Current state of glaciers in the tropical Andes: a multi-century perspective on glacier evolution and climate change
Antoine Rabatel,Bernard Francou,Alvaro Soruco,J. Gomez,B. Caceres,Jorge Luis Ceballos,Rubén Basantes,Mathias Vuille,Jean-Emmanuel Sicart,Christian Huggel,M. Scheel,Yves Lejeune,Yves Arnaud,Manuel Collet,Thomas Condom,G. Consoli,Vincent Favier,Vincent Jomelli,Remigio Galarraga,Patrick Ginot,Patrick Ginot,L. Maisincho,J. Mendoza,Martin Ménégoz,Edson Ramirez,Pierre Ribstein,Wilson Suarez,Marcos Villacís,Patrick Wagnon +28 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a comprehensive overview of the studies of glaciers in the tropical Andes conducted in recent decades leading to the current status of the glaciers in terms of climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Slight mass loss revealed by reanalyzing glacier mass-balance observations on Glaciar Antisana 15α (inner tropics) during the 1995-2012 period
Rubén Basantes-Serrano,Antoine Rabatel,Bernard Francou,Christian Vincent,L. Maisincho,B. Caceres,Remigio Galarraga,Danilo Alvarez +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reanalyze the glacier mass balance on Glaciar Antisana 15α over the 1995-2012 period and find a large discrepancy between the cumulative glaciological and the geo-detic mass balances over the common period.

Journal ArticleDOI
Synoptic survey of surface water isotopes and nutrient concentrations, paramo high-elevation region, Antisana ecological reserve, Ecuador
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide baseline information on water isotopes and nutrient concentrations for channelized streams and wetlands from a paramo ecosystem in Antisana Ecological Reserve, Ecuador.
Hydrological interaction between glacier and páramos in the tropical Andes: implications for water resources availability
Marcos Villacís,Eric Cadier,Sandra Mena,Marcelo Anaguano,Marlon Calispa,Luis Maisisncho,Remigio Galarraga,Bernard Francou +7 more
TL;DR: The mass balance analysis of the system composed by the Humboldt catchment and Los Crespos catchment is presented in this article, where the authors identify that due to the presence of the glacier reservoirs there is an additional contribution of 24% to the annual volume at the Humberoldt Catchment and it helps to regulate the runoff during the dry season, where the daily additional glacier contribution from November to February in some cases could reach t 40%
