Historically unprecedented global glacier decline in the early 21st century

TL;DR: This article provided an overview and analysis of the main observational datasets compiled by the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) and showed that the rates of early 21st-century mass loss are without precedent on a global scale, at least for the time period observed and probably also for recorded history.
Journal ArticleDOI

New evidence for an ENSO impact on low-latitude glaciers: Antizana 15, Andes of Ecuador, 0°28'S

TL;DR: In this paper, mass balance was negative all year round during El Nino periods but remained close to equilibrium (positive anomalies) during La Nina events, and year-to-year variations in mass balance are largest between February and May.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of the global warming hiatus on Andean temperature

TL;DR: The authors analyzed spatiotemporal temperature variability along the western side of the Andes with a dense station network updated to 2010 and investigated its linkages to tropical Pacific modes of variability.
Journal ArticleDOI

OZCAR: The French Network of Critical Zone Observatories

Jérôme Gaillardet, +148 more
- 29 Nov 2018 -
TL;DR: The OZCAR-RI project as discussed by the authors is a network of instrumented sites, bringing together 21 pre-existing research observatories monitoring different compartments of the zone situated between “the rock and the sky,” the Earth's skin or critical zone (CZ), over the long term.
