Novel Subgenotypes of Hepatitis B Virus Genotypes C and D in Papua, Indonesia
Maria Inge Lusida,Victor Eka Nugrahaputra,Soetjipto,Retno Handajani,Motoko Nagano-Fujii,Mikiko Sasayama,Takako Utsumi,Hak Hotta +7 more
TL;DR: Two novel HBV subgenotypes are proposed, HBV/C6 andHBV/D6, the first of which is the most prevalent subgenotype of HBV in Papua, Indonesia, possibly representing a unique antigenic group (provisionally referred to as adrq indeterminate).
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype and Subtype Analyses of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Possible Co-Infection of HBV and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) or Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) in Blood Donors, Patients with Chronic Liver Disease and Patients on Hemodialysis in Surabaya, Indonesia
Maria Inge Lusida,Surayah,Hiroshi Sakugawa,Motoko Nagano-Fujii,Soetjipto,Mulyanto,Retno Handajani,Boediwarsono,Poernomo Boedi Setiawan,Chairul A. Nidom,Shinji Ohgimoto,Hak Hotta +11 more
TL;DR: It is reported here that all HBV isolates tested in Surabaya belonged to genotype B, with more than 90% of them being classified into subtype adw, and HBsAg titers were lower in HBV carriers with HCV co‐infection than in those withoutHCV co-infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential prevalence of hepatitis C virus subtypes in healthy blood donors, patients on maintenance hemodialysis, and patients with hepatocellular carcinoma in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Soetjipto,Retno Handajani,Maria Inge Lusida,S. Darmadi,Pangestu Adi,Soemarto,S Ishido,Y Katayama,H. Hotta +8 more
TL;DR: Seroepidemiological and molecular epidemiological analyses of HCV in Surabaya, Indonesia found that impaired immune responses of hemodialyzed patients might be responsible for the apparently decreased hepatocytic injury caused by infection with HCV type 1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subtype analysis of hepatitis C virus in Indonesia on the basis of NS5b region sequences.
Hak Hotta,Retno Handajani,Maria Inge Lusida,W Soemarto,Hisaya Doi,Hirofumi Miyajima,Morio Homma +6 more
TL;DR: A recently identified subtype of hepatitis C virus, subtype 1d, was found to be common in Indonesia, being isolated from 4 of 20 and 11 of 32 patients with chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of GB Virus C/Hepatitis G Virus Infection among Various Populations in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Identification of Novel Groups of Sequence Variants
Retno Handajani,Soetjipto,Maria Inge Lusida,Purnomo Suryohudoyo,Pangestu Adi,Poernomo Boedi Setiawan,Chairul A. Nidom,R. Soemarto,Yuko Katayama,Motoko Fujii,Hak Hotta +10 more
TL;DR: No correlation was observed between GBV-C/HGV viremia and serum alanine aminotransferase levels in the populations tested, suggesting the possibility that the virus can be classified into at least five genetic groups and does not cause apparent liver injury.
