Primary payer status is associated with mortality and resource utilization for coronary artery bypass grafting.
Damien J. LaPar,George J. Stukenborg,Richard A. Guyer,Matthew L. Stone,Castigliano M. Bhamidipati,Christine L. Lau,Irving L. Kron,Gorav Ailawadi +7 more
TL;DR: Medicaid and uninsured payer status confers increased risk adjusted in-hospital mortality for patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting operations and Medicaid was further associated with the greatest adjusted length of stay and total costs despite risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multi-institutional review of outcomes in biopsy-proven acute invasive fungal sinusitis.
Grace Wandell,Craig Miller,Aakanksha Rathor,Travis Hee Wai,Richard A. Guyer,Rodney A. Schmidt,Justin H. Turner,Peter H. Hwang,Greg E. Davis,Ian M. Humphreys +9 more
TL;DR: This study aims to identify factors that impact survival in 1 of the largest cohorts to date and to establish a smoking cessation strategy for chronic invasive fungal sinusitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Loss of the Polarity Protein PAR3 Activates STAT3 Signaling via an Atypical Protein Kinase C (aPKC)/NF-κB/Interleukin-6 (IL-6) Axis in Mouse Mammary Cells *
Richard A. Guyer,Ian G. Macara +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that loss of PAR3 triggers increased production of interleukin-6, which induces STAT3 signaling in an autocrine manner, and the results suggest that PAR3 restrains aP KCι/λ activity and thus prevents aPKC/λ from activating an oncogenic signaling network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early changes of lung function and structure in an elastase model of emphysema--a hyperpolarized 3He MRI study.
Kiarash Emami,Robert V. Cadman,John P. MacDuffie Woodburn,Martin C. Fischer,Martin C. Fischer,Stephen Kadlecek,Jianliang Zhu,Stephen Pickup,Richard A. Guyer,Michelle Law,Vahid Vahdat,Michael E. Friscia,Masaru Ishii,Jiangsheng Yu,Warren B. Gefter,Joseph B. Shrager,Joseph B. Shrager,Rahim R. Rizi +17 more
TL;DR: Assessment of function-structure correlation suggested that the majority of the decline in fractional ventilation occurred in the first 5 wk, while enlargement of alveolar diameters appeared primarily between the 5th and 10th wk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Delayed presentation of traumatic cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea: Case report and literature review.
TL;DR: A case of a patient with aSphenoid sinus CSF leak who presented 12 years after a closed head injury that included a sphenoethmoid skull base fracture highlights the need for clinicians to remain vigilant to the possibility of delayed CSF rhinorrhea, even years after traumatic head injury.
