Journal ArticleDOI
Use of therapeutic ultrasound in percutaneous coronary angioplasty. Experimental in vitro studies and initial clinical experience.
Robert J. Siegel,Julian Gunn,A Ahsan,Michael C. Fishbein,R J Bowes,D Oakley,C Wales,Wolfgang Steffen,Stephen Campbell,H. Nita +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that catheter-delivered high-intensity, low-frequency ultrasound may be useful for lesion debulking and enhancing arterial distensibility, allowing balloon dilation at relatively low pressures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous immunoglobulin treatment for acute fulminant inflammatory cardiomyopathy: series of six patients and review of literature.
Sorel Goland,Lawrence S.C. Czer,Lawrence S.C. Czer,Robert J. Siegel,Robert J. Siegel,Steven W. Tabak,Stanley C. Jordan,Stanley C. Jordan,Daniel Luthringer,Daniel Luthringer,James Mirocha,Bernice Coleman,Robert M. Kass,Alfredo Trento,Alfredo Trento +14 more
TL;DR: Therapy with intravenous high-dose IVIG may be a potentially useful treatment in selected patients if given early in the course of acute fulminant inflammatory DCM, and a randomized, prospective trial is warranted to prove the real benefit of IVIG in this patient population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-Invasive Resting Magnetocardiographic Imaging for the Rapid Detection of Ischemia in Subjects Presenting with Chest Pain
Kirsten Tolstrup,Bo E. Madsen,Jose A. Ruiz,Stephen D. Greenwood,Judeen Camacho,Robert J. Siegel,H. Caroline Gertzen,Jai-Wun Park,Peter A. Smars +8 more
TL;DR: MCG is a new rapid, non-invasive imaging tool able to detect repolarization abnormalities at rest consistent with ischemia in patients presenting with chest pain syndrome and normal or non-specific 12-lead ECG and normal troponin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical trial design principles and endpoint definitions for transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement: Part 1: Clinical trial design principles
Gregg W. Stone,Alec Vahanian,David H. Adams,William T. Abraham,Jeffrey S. Borer,Jeroen J. Bax,Joachim Schofer,Donald E. Cutlip,Mitchell W. Krucoff,Eugene H. Blackstone,Philippe Généreux,Michael J. Mack,Robert J. Siegel,Paul A. Grayburn,Maurice Enriquez-Sarano,Patrizio Lancellotti,Gerasimos Filippatos,Arie Pieter Kappetein +17 more
TL;DR: A 2-part document describing consensus recommendations for clinical trial design and endpoint definitions to guide evaluation of transcatheter and surgical therapies for MR is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Intense Exercise and Moderate Caloric Restriction on Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Inflammation
TL;DR: In morbidly obese individuals, intense exercise with moderate caloric restriction over 7 months is associated with a dramatic improvement in carotid vascular function and atherosclerosis risk factors, as well as a reduction in inflammatory biomarkers, lipids, insulin resistance, and CIMT.
