COVID-19 and Thrombotic or Thromboembolic Disease: Implications for Prevention, Antithrombotic Therapy, and Follow-up
Behnood Bikdeli,Mahesh V. Madhavan,David Jiménez,Taylor Chuich,Isaac Dreyfus,Elissa Driggin,Caroline Der Nigoghossian,Walter Ageno,Mohammad Madjid,Yutao Guo,Liang V. Tang,Yu Hu,Jay Giri,Mary Cushman,Isabelle Quéré,Evangelos Dimakakos,C. Michael Gibson,C. Michael Gibson,Giuseppe Lippi,Emmanuel J. Favaloro,Jawed Fareed,Joseph A. Caprini,Alfonso Tafur,John R. Burton,Dominic P. Francese,Elizabeth Y. Wang,Anna Falanga,Claire McLintock,Beverley J. Hunt,Alex C. Spyropoulos,Geoffrey D. Barnes,John W. Eikelboom,John W. Eikelboom,Ido Weinberg,Sam Schulman,Marc Carrier,Gregory Piazza,Gregory Piazza,Joshua A. Beckman,P. Gabriel Steg,Gregg W. Stone,Stephan Rosenkranz,Samuel Z. Goldhaber,Samuel Z. Goldhaber,Sahil A. Parikh,Manuel Monreal,Harlan M. Krumholz,Stavros Konstantinides,Jeffrey I. Weitz,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Gregory Y.H. Lip +50 more
TL;DR: The current understanding of the pathogenesis, epidemiology, management and outcomes of patients with COVID-19 who develop venous or arterial thrombosis, and of those with preexistingThrombotic disease who develop CO VID-19 are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of immediate angioplasty with thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction. The Primary Angioplasty in Myocardial Infarction Study Group.
Cindy L. Grines,K F Browne,Jean Marco,Rothbaum D,Gregg W. Stone,James H. O'Keefe,Paul Overlie,B Donohue,N Chelliah,Gerald C. Timmis +9 more
TL;DR: As compared with t-PA therapy for acute myocardial infarction, immediate PTCA reduced the combined occurrence of nonfatal reinfarction or death, was associated with a lower rate of intracranial hemorrhage, and resulted in similar left ventricular systolic function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Derivation and validation of the predicting bleeding complications in patients undergoing stent implantation and subsequent dual antiplatelet therapy (PRECISE-DAPT) score: a pooled analysis of individual-patient datasets from clinical trials
Francesco Costa,Francesco Costa,Francesco Costa,David van Klaveren,David van Klaveren,Stefan James,Dik Heg,Lorenz Räber,Fausto Feres,Thomas Pilgrim,Myeong Ki Hong,Hyo-Soo Kim,Antonio Colombo,Philippe Gabriel Steg,Thomas Zanchin,Tullio Palmerini,Lars Wallentin,Deepak L. Bhatt,Gregg W. Stone,Stephan Windecker,Ewout W. Steyerberg,Marco Valgimigli,Marco Valgimigli +22 more
TL;DR: The PRECISE-DAPT score is a simple five-item risk score, which provides a standardised tool for the prediction of out-of-hospital bleeding during DAPT and can support clinical decision making for treatment duration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet reactivity and clinical outcomes after coronary artery implantation of drug-eluting stents (ADAPT-DES): a prospective multicentre registry study
Gregg W. Stone,Bernhard Witzenbichler,Giora Weisz,Michael Rinaldi,Franz-Josef Neumann,D. Christopher Metzger,Timothy D. Henry,David A. Cox,Peter L. Duffy,Ernest L. Mazzaferri,Paul A. Gurbel,Ke Xu,Helen Parise,Ajay J. Kirtane,Bruce R. Brodie,Roxana Mehran,Thomas Stuckey +16 more
TL;DR: The findings from this study emphasise the counter-balancing effects of haemorrhagic and ischaemic complications after stent implantation, and suggest that safer drugs or tailored strategies for the use of more potent agents must be developed if the benefits of greater platelet inhibition in patients with cardiovascular disease are to be realised.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stent underexpansion and residual reference segment stenosis are related to stent thrombosis after sirolimus-eluting stent implantation: An intravascular ultrasound study
Kenichi Fujii,Stephane Carlier,Gary S. Mintz,Yi-ming Yang,Issam Moussa,Giora Weisz,George Dangas,Roxana Mehran,Alexandra J. Lansky,Edward M. Kreps,Michael B. Collins,Gregg W. Stone,Jeffrey W. Moses,Martin B. Leon +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the predictors of stent thrombosis after sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) implantation were determined. But, their results were limited to 15 patients who developed STC after successful SES implantation.
