Increased infections associated with the use of OKT3 for treatment of steroid-resistant rejection in renal transplantation.
Cooing-san Oh,Robert J. Stratta,Barry C. Fox,Hans W. Sollinger,Folkert O. Belzer,Dennis G. Maki +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that OKT3 given for treatment of resistant rejecion in renal transplantation predisposes the patient to serious infection, particularly with opportunistic pathogens characteristically associated with depressed cell-meiodated immunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of pulsatile perfusion preservation on outcomes in kidney transplantation from expanded criteria donors.
Robert J. Stratta,Phillip S. Moore,Alan C. Farney,Jeffrey Rogers,Erica L. Hartmann,Amber Reeves-Daniel,Michael D. Gautreaux,Samy S. Iskandar,Patricia L. Adams +8 more
TL;DR: Despite longer cold ischemia times, recipients of ECD kidneys managed with PPP had similar survival and functional outcomes, but experienced a marked reduction in the rate of delayed graft function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surgical complications after pancreas transplantation with portal-enteric drainage.
Kunam S. Reddy,Kunam S. Reddy,Robert J. Stratta,Robert J. Stratta,M. H. Shokouh-Amiri,M. H. Shokouh-Amiri,Rita R. Alloway,Rita R. Alloway,M.F Egidi,M.F Egidi,Ahmed O. Gaber,Ahmed O. Gaber +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors retrospectively studied surgical complications after 83 vascularized PTXs with portal-enteric (P-E) drainage in 79 patients (65 simultaneous kidney-PTXs [SKPT] and 18 solitary PTX [SPT], 8 pancreas alone and 10 pancreatas after kidney transplantation).
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical Technique for Right Lobe Adult Living Donor Liver Transplantation Without Venovenous Bypass or Portocaval Shunting and With Duct-to-Duct Biliary Reconstruction
Hani P. Grewal,M. Hosein Shokouh-Amiri,Santiago R. Vera,Robert J. Stratta,Wagdi Bagous,A. Osama Gaber +5 more
TL;DR: Adult living donor liver transplantation can be performed safely and may help alleviate the organ shortage, and modifications to both the donor and recipient hepatectomy procedures may allow biliary reconstruction to be performed by a direct duct-to-duct anastomosis in selected cases.
