Uniform asymptotic theory of edge diffraction

TL;DR: In this paper, a uniform asymptotic theory of diffraction was proposed, which is uniformly valid near edges and shadow boundaries, but not at any caustics other than the edge.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Unifying Principle in Statistical Mechanics

TL;DR: In this paper, a general principle for obtaining simplified descriptions of complex systems is presented for obtaining equations of motion for such descriptions, and the principle involves maximizing an appropriate entropy functional, which yields the Vlasov equation, the Boltzmann equation, Euler's hydrodynamic equations, a generalization of Grad's tenmoment approximation, the Gibbs distribution (i.e., equilibrium statistical mechanics), and Onsager's equations of irreversible thermodynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solution of the Equations of Statistical Mechanics

TL;DR: In this article, the solution of the initial value problem for Bogoliubov's functional differential equation of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics is obtained, and the solution is then expanded in an infinite power series in the density which has the advantage that the calculation of the leading terms requires the s-body problems only for small values of s.
Journal Article

Uniform asymptotic theory of diffraction by a plane screen

TL;DR: A submitted manuscript is the version of the article upon submission and before peer-review as mentioned in this paper, while a published version is the final layout of the paper including the volume, issue and page numbers.
