Composite laminates buckling optimization through Lévy based ant colony optimization
TL;DR: The authors propose the use of the Levy probability distribution as leading mechanism for solutions differentiation in an efficient and bio-inspired optimization algorithm, ant colony optimization in continuous domains, ACOR, and properly introduced in the solution construction step.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Model for Assessing the Magnitude and Distribution of Sheath Currents in Medium and High-Voltage Cable Lines
TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation model to study the effect of cross-bonding of metallic sheaths, and/or nonmagnetic armors, of single-core medium and high-voltage cables in the same circuit is presented.

A partial discharge detection apparatus and method
TL;DR: In this paper, a partial discharge detection (PEDD) detection system was proposed, consisting of a support structure, a first antenna (1) configured to receive electromagnetic signals (Sd) at least partially associated with partial discharges of an electric object (100) and generate a first electrical signal (Sint); the first antenna having a first receiving effective area for first receiving directions and a second antenna (2) configured for receiving electromagnetic noise signals (Sn) and generating a second electrical signal(Sin2), the first and second antennas being arranged to cause the second antenna

Locating of partial-discharge-generating faults
TL;DR: In this paper, a method of locating incipient faults that generate partial discharges in an AC power distribution system is disclosed, comprising the steps of detecting at least one spike (21) in a PD pattern (pC) generated by such system (10); getting the voltage wave (kV) of the AC power in the system; detecting a phase (f) of such spike(21) with respect to the voltage(kV), where such phase(f) is below a predetermined threshold (f 0).

Different Space Charge Behavior of Materials Used in AC and DC Systems
M. De Araujo Andrade,Roberto Candela,L. De Rai,A. Imburgia,E. Riva Sanseverino,Pietro Romano,I. Troia,Fabio Viola +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the behavior of three different XLPE specimens used as insulation materials in high voltage systems was evaluated from the space charge accumulation phenomenon point of view, and a comparison among the tested specimens has been made.
