David A. Mackey,Roelof-Jan Oostra,T Rosenberg,Eeva Nikoskelainen,J Bronte-Stewart,Joanna Poulton,A E Harding,G Govan,P A Bolhuis,S Norby +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI

Bernadette S. de Bakker,Kees H. de Jong,Jaco Hagoort,Karel de Bree,Clara T. Besselink,Froukje E. C. de Kanter,Tyas Veldhuis,Babette Bais,Reggie Schildmeijer,Jan M. Ruijter,Roelof-Jan Oostra,Vincent M. Christoffels,Antoon F.M. Moorman +12 more
TL;DR: The morphology presented in this atlas is directly connected to the original sections of the embryos in the Carnegie Collection—a connection that was in danger of being lost, with present-day textbook morphology becoming increasingly schematic and deviating from the original substrate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy: correlations between mitochondrial genotype and visual outcome.
TL;DR: No significant clinical differences were found between families exhibiting only the 11778 mutation and those with additional mutations at np 13708, 4917, or 4216, suggesting that these mutations are of little phenotypic importance.
Journal ArticleDOI
The anatomy in relation to injury of the lateral collateral ligaments of the ankle: a current concepts review.
TL;DR: A well‐developed knowledge of the anatomy provides a foundation for understanding the basic mechanism of injury, diagnosis, and treatment, especially surgical treatment, of lateral collateral ankle ligament injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequence Analysis of the Mitochondrial Genomes from Dutch Pedigrees with Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy
Neil Howell,Roelof-Jan Oostra,Piet A. Bolhuis,Liesbeth Spruijt,Lorne A. Clarke,David A. Mackey,Gwen Preston,Corinna Herrnstadt +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that these Dutch and French Canadian 14484 pedigrees with LHON share a common ancestor, that the single origin of the 14484 mutation in this megalineage occurred before the year 1600, and that there is a 14484/haplogroup J founder effect.
