Journal ArticleDOI

Psychometric evaluation of the five-factor Modified Drinking Motives Questionnaire--Revised in undergraduates.

TL;DR: The Modified DMQ-R scores showed good to excellent test-retest reliability in a sample of undergraduates who were relatively frequent drinkers, and drinking motives prospectively predicted number of drinks consumed per week and alcohol-related problems, over and above demographics and initial alcohol use.
Journal ArticleDOI

The relative impact of injunctive norms on college student drinking: the role of reference group.

TL;DR: It is suggested that for injunctive norms, only perceptions of proximal reference groups (friends and parents) are positively associated with drinking behavior, however, when considered in the context of multiple referents and norms, inj unctive norms for more distal groups (typical students/same-sex students) were negatively associated with personal drinking, whereas descriptive norms for distal refereNTs remained positivelyassociated with drinking.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural, concurrent, and predictive validity of the Substance Use Risk Profile Scale in early adolescence

TL;DR: Clinical utility for screening adolescents at risk for substance use is suggested and three subscales, hopelessness, impulsivity, and sensation seeking, were positively related to current and future use; while one, anxiety sensitivity, was negatively related.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting alcohol patterns in first-year college students through motivational systems and reasons for drinking.

TL;DR: The utility of latent profile analysis for identifying a drinking typology and for integrating personality and drinking motives to distinguish drinking patterns are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gray's Reinforcement Sensitivity Model and Child Psychopathology: Laboratory and Questionnaire Assessment of the BAS and BIS.

TL;DR: Results supported the utility of the questionnaire measures and reaction time task as assessments of BAS and BIS functioning and showed high levels of impulsivity/fun seeking, but not drive or reward responsivity, were associated with high level of internalizing behavior problems.
