Structural, concurrent, and predictive validity of the Substance Use Risk Profile Scale in early adolescence

TLDR
Clinical utility for screening adolescents at risk for substance use is suggested and three subscales, hopelessness, impulsivity, and sensation seeking, were positively related to current and future use; while one, anxiety sensitivity, was negatively related.

Impulsivity-related personality traits and adolescent alcohol use: A meta-analytic review

TL;DR: Results indicate that excessive alcohol consumption during adolescence may be driven in part by the desire to seek novel and exciting experiences.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term effects of a personality-targeted intervention to reduce alcohol use in adolescents.

TL;DR: This study provides further evidence showing that personality-targeted interventions reduce drinking behavior in adolescents in the short term and novel findings were that the interventions were shown to produced long-term effects on drinking problems and personality-specific effects on Drinking motives.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effectiveness of a selective, personality-targeted prevention program for adolescent alcohol use and misuse: a cluster randomized controlled trial

TL;DR: Findings further support the personality-targeted approach to alcohol prevention and its effectiveness when provided by trained school staff and some mild herd effects that result from this selective prevention program.

Effectiveness of a selective, personality-targeted prevention program for adolescent alcohol use and misuse

TL;DR: This article reported 24-month outcomes of the Teacher-Delivered Personality-Targeted Interventions for Substance Misuse Trial (Adventure trial) in which school staff were trained to provide interventions to students with one of four high-risk (HR) profiles: anxiety sensitivity, hopelessness, impulsivity, and sensation seeking and examined the indirect herd effects of this program on the broader low-risk population of students who were not selected for intervention.

Cutoff criteria for fit indexes in covariance structure analysis : Conventional criteria versus new alternatives

TL;DR: In this article, the adequacy of the conventional cutoff criteria and several new alternatives for various fit indexes used to evaluate model fit in practice were examined, and the results suggest that, for the ML method, a cutoff value close to.95 for TLI, BL89, CFI, RNI, and G...

An inventory for measuring depression

TL;DR: The difficulties inherent in obtaining consistent and adequate diagnoses for the purposes of research and therapy have been pointed out and a wide variety of psychiatric rating scales have been developed.

Manual for the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory

TL;DR: The STAI as mentioned in this paper is an indicator of two types of anxiety, the state and trait anxiety, and measure the severity of the overall anxiety level, which is appropriate for those who have at least a sixth grade reading level.

Comparative fit indexes in structural models

TL;DR: A new coefficient is proposed to summarize the relative reduction in the noncentrality parameters of two nested models and two estimators of the coefficient yield new normed (CFI) and nonnormed (FI) fit indexes.
