TL;DR: This discovery represents a major advancement for solid-state Na(+) fast-ion conduction at technologically relevant device temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liquid-Like Ionic Conduction in Solid Lithium and Sodium Monocarba-closo-Decaborates Near or at Room Temperature
Wan Si Tang,Wan Si Tang,Motoaki Matsuo,Hui Wu,Vitalie Stavila,Wei Zhou,A. Alec Talin,Alexei V. Soloninin,Roman V. Skoryunov,Olga A. Babanova,Alexander V. Skripov,Atsushi Unemoto,Shin Ichi Orimo,Terrence J. Udovic +13 more
TL;DR: LiCB9H10 and NaCB 9H10 exhibit liquid-like cationic conductivities (≥0.03 S cm−1) in their disordered hexagonal phases near or at room temperature as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stabilizing Superionic-Conducting Structures via Mixed-Anion Solid Solutions of Monocarba-closo-borate Salts
Wan Si Tang,Wan Si Tang,Koji Yoshida,Alexei V. Soloninin,Roman V. Skoryunov,Olga A. Babanova,Alexander V. Skripov,Mirjana Dimitrievska,Mirjana Dimitrievska,Vitalie Stavila,Shin Ichi Orimo,Terrence J. Udovic +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that by introducing geometric frustration via the mixing of two different closo-polyborate anions, namely, 1-CB9H10 and CB11H12, they can successfully suppress the formation of possible ordered phases in favor of disordered, fast-ion-conducting alloy phases over a broad temperature range from subambient to high temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anion Reorientations and Cation Diffusion in LiCB11H12 and NaCB11H12: 1H, 7Li, and 23Na NMR Studies
Alexander V. Skripov,Roman V. Skoryunov,Alexei V. Soloninin,Olga A. Babanova,Wan Si Tang,Wan Si Tang,Vitalie Stavila,Terrence J. Udovic +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the temperature dependences of the 1H, 7Li, and 23Na NMR spectra and spin-lattice relaxation rates in these compounds below and above the phase transition points.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Anion Reorientational Dynamics in MCB9H10 and M2B10H10 (M = Li, Na) via Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Quasielastic Neutron Scattering Studies
Alexei V. Soloninin,Mirjana Dimitrievska,Mirjana Dimitrievska,Roman V. Skoryunov,Olga A. Babanova,Alexander V. Skripov,Wan Si Tang,Wan Si Tang,Vitalie Stavila,Shin Ichi Orimo,Terrence J. Udovic +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the disordered phases of the 1-carba-closo-decaborates LiCB9H10 and NaCB 9H10 exhibit the best solid-state ionic conductivities to date among all known polycrystalline competitors.
