Journal ArticleDOI

Initial orienting to emotional faces in female adolescents with borderline personality disorder.

TL;DR: It is suggested that attentional orienting to negative faces is not specific to adolescent patients with BPD but also affects adolescents patients with other psychiatric diagnoses, and that BPD is specifically associated with distortions in initial orienting processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Childhood behavioral inhibition and maternal symptoms of depression.

TL;DR: Even maternal depression not reaching the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment has an impact on child behavioral development, and maternal depressive symptoms assessed by the revised 90-item Symptom Checklist at 6 weeks, 4 and 14 months were found to be related to child inhibition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Developmental trajectories of self-injurious behavior, suicidal behavior and substance misuse and their association with adolescent borderline personality pathology

TL;DR: The findings indicate a similar pattern of reduction over time between SIB and SB for the high-risk trajectories, whereas thehigh- risk trajectories for SM show a pattern of increase over time, which might represent early indicators of risk supporting potential early detection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, childhood adversity and adolescent nonsuicidal self-injury

TL;DR: The findings indicate that adolescents engaging in NSSI may exhibit a stronger cortisol awakening response, potentially in expectation of strain, however, elevated cortisol levels may not be maintained throughout the day, especially among adolescents with a history of CA.
