Objective measures of disordered sleep in fibromyalgia

TL;DR: Standard measures of sleep, a gold-standard measure of sleepiness, quantified alpha-delta EEG power, auditory arousal thresholds, and urinary free cortisol largely failed to distinguish FM and control subjects, but decreased short-term heart rate variability (HRV) and especially ratio-based HRV among FM subjects suggested diminished parasympathetic and increased sympathetic activity, respectively.

System and method for analysis of respiratory cycle-related EEG changes in sleep-disordered breathing

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for determining respiratory cycle-related EEG changes (RCREC) for a subject with sleep-disordered breathing is provided, which includes receiving an EEG signal from the subject using at least one sensor, and defining at least two respiratory cycle segments within each respiratory cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toward cost-effectiveness analysis in the diagnosis and treatment of insomnia.

TL;DR: It is concluded that effective insomnia management holds promise as a cost-effective health care intervention, however, the CEA models that eventually may support this hypothesis will require accurate measures of direct and indirect costs, health state utility in treated and untreated insomnia, and prevalence data based on widely-accepted case definitions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sleep-Disordered Breathing Is Associated With Recurrent Ischemic Stroke

TL;DR: Results from this large population-based study show that SDB is associated with recurrent ischemic stroke, but not mortality, and may represent an important modifiable risk factor for poor stroke outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insomnia and sleepiness in Parkinson disease: associations with symptoms and comorbidities.

TL;DR: Non-motor symptoms appear to beassociated with subjective insomnia, whereas fatigue and dopaminergic medication are associated with subjective daytime sleepiness.
