This paper presents a study of image compression methods algorithm for compare the best techniques on lossy image compression. One of the major difficulties encountered in compression for lossy imagethat how to shield quality of image in a way that the compressed image constantlyidentical to the authentic, different from the types of methods that exist in the lossless image that can maintain the quality of the images authenticity. In compressing images there are also many methods that can be used with various algorithms such as Huffman code, Chandhuri and Hocquengham (BCH) Codes, Multiple-Tables Arithmetic Code, Fractal Coding, Block Truncation Coding and many other algorithms. In Transform domain, the image is for gain a rarely coefficient matrix using DWT, DCT and FFT. DCT method is almost similar to discrete Fourier transform (DFT), which works to convert a signal or image by a spatial domain into a frequency domain. Because amountvariety of images, Binary Image, RGB image, image intensity. Then adopt compressing an image to decrease the size of the data ortechniques to subtract the amount of bits required to reflect an images. Based on the results of this study using 3 methods that can perform compression image with different compression results with each method (DCT, FFT and DWT) as much as 4 variations of measurement percentage of image compression of each method starting from compressing image with size 10%, 30%, 50% and 70%. Comparing the three methods with four different variations of presentation measurement can give very accurate and clear results which method is best for compression the image of the present percentage size.

Comparison methods of DCT, DWT and FFT techniques approach on lossy image compression

Medical image compression is in high demand in the medical field, since it reduces the required time to transmit an image in a bandwidth or store an image for medical purposes. Modern medical image diagnostics involves a large set of medical images that are often based on MRI, XRays or CT. However, the introduction of new technologies and the fast development of existing ones has resulted in a high demand for bandwidth. In this article, the proposed image compression method for medical images it uses the discrete wavelet transform as a compression tool, which provides a better compression ratio without losing valuable information and through the implementation of the proposed enhanced run length encoder, by the use of the elegant pairing function, we can achieve higher compression ratios and high visual quality. Despite this, the fidelity is subject to the capabilities and limitations of the Human Visual System.

An Enhanced Run Length Encoding using an Elegant Pairing Function for Medical Image Compression

Compression of these images needs to be attained considerably, without compromising the image quality. Correlation between different lossy and lossless segments in 1−D image channels is investigated in this paper and a technique to make use of this redundancy is suggested. Application/Improvement: Any medical image compression application can adopt this technique and further improvements can be done on 3 Dimensional HAAR picture quality enhancement along with lossy compression.

Medical Image Compression using Lossless and Lossy Systems by 3 Dimensional Haar Wavelet Transform

Objectives: To achieve high compression rate by reducing the more redundant information in medical images. More compression rate results in less resource utilization and also reduces the processing overhead and time consumption. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this approach, initially the medical image was decomposed through multiwavelet transform. Then a band selection procedure is performed on the obtained sub bands to select the bands which are noncorrelated. Thus, the redundant information existing in the bands will be reduced. Then, the selected bands were processed for energy based interpolation to select the features which are more informative and also to reduce the redundant information further. Next, the hierarchical coding was applied over the obtained features. Findings: Simulation results are carried out over various medical images and for every image, the quality was checked through PSNR and the performance was checked through processing overhead and computation time (sec). Compared with earlier approaches, the processing overhead of proposed approach observed to be less and the computation time also. Similar, the PSNR is observed to be high and MSE as low. Applications/Improvements: The proposed medical image coding system will be used in telemedicine applications where there is a need of efficient resource utilization to transmit the data with fewer resources.

Energy Interpolated Mapping for Image Compression with Hierarchical Coding

This paper conducts the analysis on the high-resolution image compression (IC) algorithm based on 89s52S single chip microcomputer. Image compression is an important issue in the field of image processing, at present, most algorithms, such as JPEG algorithm that compress all regions of the image with the same compression ratio. However, this kind of compression algorithm has its own inherent flaws, such as the gray discontinuity (block effect) at the boundary of each block, which will greatly affect the subjective quality of the reconstructed image. Under this basis, this paper proposes the novel IC algorithm and applies it on the hardware. The result proves the effectiveness.

Implementation of the High-resolution Image Compression Algorithm based on 89s52S Single Chip Microcomputer

Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) provides more improvements in the quality of the image without losing quality and information of images. Parallel processing reduces power and area and it gives high throughput and nice performance and very useful in VLSI. It is used in a number of DSP applications like HD video compression; biomedical imaging and we get the image data in redundancy format without reducing image data. Here two parallel Discrete Wavelet Transform is passed through original image using two filter high pass and low pass.
