Patient perceptions of glucocorticoid side effects: a cross-sectional survey of users in an online health community
Ruth Costello,Rikesh Patel,Jennifer Humphreys,John McBeth,John McBeth,William G Dixon,William G Dixon +6 more
TL;DR: The three most highly rated side effects were not clinically serious but remained important to patients, perhaps reflecting their impact on quality of life and high prevalence and should be taken into consideration when discussing treatment options and planning future GC safety studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oral glucocorticoid therapy and all-cause and cause-specific mortality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a retrospective cohort study
Mohammad Movahedi,Ruth Costello,Mark Lunt,Stephen R Pye,Jamie C. Sergeant,Jamie C. Sergeant,William G Dixon +6 more
TL;DR: GC therapy was associated with an increased risk of mortality for all specific causes considered, albeit to a lesser extent for cardiovascular causes, and the association between ever GC use and all-cause mortality was partly explained by perimortal bias.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying the hepatotoxic risk of alcohol consumption in patients with rheumatoid arthritis taking methotrexate
Jenny H. Humphreys,Alexander J. Warner,Ruth Costello,Mark Lunt,Suzanne M M Verstappen,William G Dixon +5 more
TL;DR: Weekly alcohol consumption of <14 units per week does not appear to be associated with an increased risk of transaminitis, and the risk of developing abnormal liver blood tests at different levels of alcohol consumption is quantified.
