Convective Instability Associated with the Eastward-Propagating Rainfall Episodes over Eastern China during the Warm Season

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the latest satellite rainfall and reanalysis datasets from 1998 to 2012 demonstrates that eastward-propagating rainfall episodes, which typically occur in late night and early morning, are determinant factors for the rainfall diurnal cycle and climate anomalies over eastern China.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adaptation of rice to climate change through a cultivar-based simulation: a possible cultivar shift in eastern Japan

TL;DR: In this article, the authors applied the outputs of a global climate model (MIROC5) with a Repre- sentative Concentration Pathways 4.5 scenario, dynamically downscaled to a 10 km mesh for the present (19812000) and future (20812099) climate conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impacts of land‐use changes on surface warming rates and rice yield in Shikoku, western Japan

TL;DR: In this paper, the impacts of historical land-use changes (LUCs) from 1987 to 2006 on surface warming rates and rice yields on the island of Shikoku, Japan were evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inter-Model Differences in the Relationships between Downward Shortwave Radiation and Air Temperatures Derived from Dynamical and Statistical Downscaling Models

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the downscaled downward shortwave radiation (Sd ) and daily mean, maximum, and minimum surface air temperatures (Tm, Tx, and Tn) over Japan derived from four dynamical models and one statistical model for the period 1985-2004.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimation of cool summer damage in the Tohoku region based on the MRI AGCM

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the impact of climate change due to global warming on the risk of cool summer damage to paddy rice in the Tohoku region of Japan, and showed that the reproducibility of cooling damage occurring under the current climate was based on bias-corrected data.
