Search for a neutron electric dipole moment
J. M. Pendlebury,K. F. Smith,Robert Golub,J. Byrne,T. J. L. McComb,T.J. Sumner,S.M. Burnett,A.R. Taylor,B. Heckel,Norman F. Ramsey,K. Green,J. Morse,A.I. Kilvington,C.A. Baker,S.A. Clark,W. Mampe,P. Ageron,Pedro C. Miranda +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, a search for a neutron electric dipole moment was proposed as a test for parity conservation and the test would be particularly sensitive since the neutron has no electric charge and is consequently not accelerated out of the observation region when a strong external electric field is applied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of X-rays from anti-protonic hydrogen and deuterium
C.A. Baker,C.J. Batty,S.A. Clark,J. Moir,S. Sakamoto,J.D. Davies,J. Lowe,J. M. Nelson,G.J. Pyle,A. Selvarajah,G.T.A. Squier,Robert E. Welsh,R. G. Winter,E.W.A. Lingeman,C.W.E. van Eijk,R.W. Hollander,D. Langerveld,W.J.C. Okx,A. Zoutendijk +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the yields of K and L series X-rays from pp atoms and of the L-series X-ray from pd atoms have been measured at gas densities of 0.25, 0.92, 2.0 and 10.0ρ STP.
Journal ArticleDOI
K-series X-rays from anti-protonic hydrogen and deuterium
C.W.E. van Eijk,R.W. Hollander,D. Langerveld,W.J.C. Okx,A. Zoutendijk,R. Ferreira-Marques,C.A. Baker,C.J. Batty,S.A. Clark,J. Moir,S. Sakamoto,J.D. Davies,J. Lowe,J. M. Nelson,G.J. Pyle,G.T.A. Squier,Robert E. Welsh,R. G. Winter,E.W.A. Lingeman +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the energy and yields of K-series X-rays from pd atoms were measured with two gas scintillation proportional detectors at target gas densities of 0.25 and 0.92 ρ STP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross section measurement of the π - p→ π - π + n reaction near threshold
G. Kernel,D. Korbar,P. Križan,M. Mikuž,F. Sever,Aleš Stanovnik,M. Starič,Danilo Zavrtanik,C.W.E. van Eijk,R.W. Hollander,W. Lourens,E.G. Michaelis,N.W. Tanner,S.A. Clark,J.V. Jovanovich,J.D. Davies,J. Lowe,S. M. Playfer +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first time that the cross section has been measured so close to threshold is presented, and the results of cross section measurements for the reaction π − p → π− π + n are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-rays from anti-protonic hydrogen and deuterium
T.P. Gorringe,J.D. Davies,J. Lowe,J. M. Nelson,S. M. Playfer,G.J. Pyle,G.T.A. Squier,C.A. Baker,C.J. Batty,S.A. Clark,A.I. Kilvington,J. Moir,S. Sakamoto,Robert E. Welsh,R.G. Winter,E.W.A. Lingeman +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the LEAR facility at CERN was used to stop antrotons from stopping in targets of gaseous H 2 or D 2, and yields of L X-rays were measured.
