Poly Ethylene Glycols as Efficient Media for the Synthesis of β-Nitro Styrenes from α, β-Unsaturated Carboxylic Acids and Metal Nitrates under Conventional and Non-Conventional Conditions

TL;DR: Poly ethylene glycols (PEG-200, 400, 600, 4000 and 6000) supported reactions were conducted with certain α, β-unsaturated acids in presence of metal nitrates under solvent free and mineral acid free conditions and PEG-300 has been found to be much more effective than other PEGs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyethylene Glycols as Efficient Catalysts for the Oxidation of Xanthine Alkaloids by Ceric Ammonium Nitrate in Acetonitrile: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Approach

TL;DR: In this article, the first order kinetics of xanthine alkaloids, such as Xanthine (XAN), hypoxanthine(HXAN) and theobromine (TBR), have been studied with poly ethylene glycols (PEG) as catalysts and showed that an increase in [PEG increased the rate of oxidation linearly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyethylene Glycols as Efficient Media for Decarboxylative Nitration of α,β-Unsaturated Aromatic Carboxylic Acids by Ceric Ammonium Nitrate in Acetonitrile Medium: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study

TL;DR: In this paper, polyethylene glycols were used for decarboxylative nitration of α, β-unsaturated aromatic carboxylic acids by ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) in acetonitrile to give β-nitrostyrene derivatives.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ru (III) catalyzed oxidation of aliphatic ketones by N-bromosuccinimide in aqueous acetic acid: a kinetic study.

TL;DR: Kinetics of Ru (III) catalyzed oxidation of aliphatic ketones such as acetone, ethyl methyl ketones, diethyl ketone, iso-butylmethyl ketone by N-bromosuccinimide in the presence of Hg(II) acetate have been studied in aqueous acid medium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Poly Ethylene Glycols (PEG) and Micelles as Efficient Catalysts for the Oxidation of Xanthine Derivatives under Conventional and Non-Conventional Conditions

TL;DR: In this article, the Xanthine alkaloid has been studied with various one and two electron oxidizing agents using PEGs and micelle forming surfactants and the reaction is too sluggish in solution phase, but moderately fast in presence of PEG and micelles.
