Differential Pathological and Immune Responses in Newly Weaned Ferrets Are Associated with a Mild Clinical Outcome of Pandemic 2009 H1N1 Infection
Stephen S. H. Huang,David Banner,Norbert Degousee,Alberto J. Leon,Alberto J. Leon,Louling Xu,Stéphane G. Paquette,Stéphane G. Paquette,Thirumagal Kanagasabai,Yuan Fang,Yuan Fang,Yuan Fang,Salvatore Rubino,Barry B. Rubin,David J. Kelvin,Alyson A. Kelvin +15 more
TL;DR: It is observed that H1N1pdm infection triggered formation of lung structures that resembled inducible bronchus-associated lymphoid tissues in young ferrets which were associated with high levels of homeostatic chemokines CCL19 and CXCL13, but these were not seen in the adult ferrets with severe disease.
Insecticidal activity of isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis on larvae and adults of Bactrocera oleae Gmelin (Dipt. Tephritidae)
S Gash,David J. Ellar,Sofia Aptosoglou,Minas Arsenakis,Afroditi Sivropoulou,Eleni Vasara,Koliais Si,Trinidad M. Alberola,Yolanda Bel,Francisco Granero,M. J. Martínez-Sebastián,Juan Ferré,Gavino Delrio,Salvatore Rubino,Alberto Satta,G Scarpellini,Romolo Prota +16 more
TL;DR: Several of the most toxic crystalliferous isolates may contain novel toxins since they gave no PCR products when probed with primers specified for 39 known toxin genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Zika virus: a new pandemic threat
TL;DR: Due to the large number of people travelling across the borders and some reported cases of transmission of ZIKV via contaminated blood, screening and identification of asymptomatic infected individuals are important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lethal and sublethal effects of Brevibacillus laterosporus on the housefly (Musca domestica)
Luca Ruiu,Gavino Delrio,David J. Ellar,Ignazio Floris,Bianca Paglietti,Salvatore Rubino,Alberto Satta +6 more
TL;DR: A significant increase in larval development time and reductions in pupal weight and emergence rate were observed when larvae were fed on diets containing sublethal concentrations of spores, and adults surviving after feeding on a sublethal diet showed a significant reduction in fecundity and longevity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insecticidal activity of strains of Bacillus thuringiensis on larvae and adults of Bactrocera oleae Gmelin (Dipt. Tephritidae).
Trinidad M. Alberola,Sofia Aptosoglou,Minas Arsenakis,Yolanda Bel,Gavino Delrio,David J. Ellar,Juan Ferré,Francisco Granero,D.M. Guttmann,Koliais Si,M. J. Martínez-Sebastián,Romolo Prota,Salvatore Rubino,Alberto Satta,G Scarpellini,Afroditi Sivropoulou,Eleni Vasara +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors search for isolates toxic to Bactrocera oleae and find that only 3 isolates out of 14 gave significant mortality against this parasitoid.
