Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of physico-mechanical properties of coir-polypropylene biocomposites by fiber chemical treatment

TL;DR: In this paper, a coir fiber reinforced polypropylene biocomposites were manufactured using hot press method, where raw coir was chemically treated with basic chromium sulfate and sodium bicarbonate salt in acidic media.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical Modification Effect on the Mechanical Properties of Coir Fiber

TL;DR: In this article, a brown single coir fiber was chemically treated separately in single stage and double stage to increase the adhesion between the fiber and polymer and the result showed that the Young's modulus increased, while tensile strength and strain to failure decreased with increase in span length.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of chemical treatment on the properties of coir fiber reinforced polypropylene and polyethylene composites

TL;DR: In this article, coir fiber was used as reinforcement material, while polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) polymer were used as matrix material, and the results showed that chemical treatment improved the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the manufactured composites.
Book ChapterDOI

Manufacturing of coir fibre-reinforced polymer composites by hot compression technique

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the manufacturing technique and properties of coir fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites manufactured using a hot press machine and the effects of basic chromium sulphate and sodium bicarbonate treatment on the physical and mechanical properties were also evaluated.
