Pomegranate juice consumption for 3 years by patients with carotid artery stenosis reduces common carotid intima-media thickness, blood pressure and LDL oxidation

TL;DR: It is suggested that pomegranate juice consumption by patients with CAS decreases carotid IMT and systolic blood pressure and these effects could be related to the potent antioxidant characteristics of PJ polyphenols.
Journal Article

Pomegranate juice flavonoids inhibit low-density lipoprotein oxidation and cardiovascular diseases: studies in atherosclerotic mice and in humans

TL;DR: Pomegranate polyphenols were shown to reduce the capacity of macrophages to oxidatively modify LDL, due to their interaction with LDL to inhibit its oxidation by scavenging reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prosthetic Vascular Graft Infection: The Role of 18F-FDG PET/CT

TL;DR: 18F-FDG PET/CT is a reliable noninvasive imaging modality for the diagnosis of vascular graft–related infection and enables accurate differentiation between graft and soft-tissue infection.

SPECT/CT Using 67Ga and 111In-Labeled Leukocyte Scintigraphy for Diagnosis of Infection

TL;DR: SPECT/CT made an incremental contribution to GS and WBC in 48% of patients with suspected infections, by improving diagnosis, localization, and definition of extent of disease.
