Journal ArticleDOI

Azo-dye degradation in an anaerobic-aerobic treatment system operating on simulated textile effluent.

TL;DR: Although only a simple qualitative HPLC method was used, colour removal, toxicity and TON removal all support its usefulness in analysing biotreatment of azo dyes.
Journal ArticleDOI

An evaluation of the policy and techno-economic factors affecting the potential for biogas upgrading for transport fuel use in the UK

TL;DR: In this paper, it is demonstrated that biomethane can be produced at a cost which is competitive with liquid bio-fuels and fossil fuels within the UK within the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of acid pretreatment on the anaerobic digestion and dewatering of waste activated sludge.

TL;DR: Dewatering investigations suggested that the acid pretreated WAS required 40% less cationic polymer addition to achieve the same cake solid content, and optimisation of acid dosing was performed considering digestibility benefits and level of acid required.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anaerobic–aerobic biotreatment of simulated textile effluent containing varied ratios of starch and azo dye

TL;DR: Combined anaerobic-aerobic treatment was used to treat a simulated textile industry wastewater (overall HRT 1.8 days). The azo dye (PROCION Red H-E7B) and starch concentrations were varied in a series of 1-week experiments to determine the effect of starch:dye ratio on COD, BOD and colour removal as discussed by the authors.
