Literature review of deteriorating inventory models by key topics from 2012 to 2015

The emergence of fuzzy sets makes job-shop scheduling problem (JSSP) become better aligned with the reality. This article addresses the JSSP with fuzzy execution time and fuzzy completion time (FJSSP). We choose the classic differential evolution (DE) algorithm as the basic optimization framework. The advantage of the DE algorithm is that it uses a special evolutionary strategy of difference vector sets to carry out mutation operation. However, DE is not very effective in solving some instances of FJSSP. Therefore, we propose a novel selection mechanism augmenting the generic DE algorithm (NSODE) to achieve better optimization results. The proposed selection operator adopted in this article aims at a temporary retention of all children generated by the parent generation, and then selecting N better solutions as the new individuals from N parents and N children. Various examples of fuzzy shop scheduling problems are experimented with to test the performance of the improved DE algorithm. The NSODE algorithm is compared with a variety of existing algorithms such as ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, and cuckoo search. Experimental results show that the NSODE can obtain superior feasible solutions compared with solutions produced by several algorithms reported in the literature.

Solving Fuzzy Job-Shop Scheduling Problem Using DE Algorithm Improved by a Selection Mechanism

In this article, a prey-predator system with Holling type II functional response for the predator population including prey refuge region has been analyzed. Also a harvesting effort has been considered for the predator population. The density-dependent mortality rate for the prey, predator and super predator has been considered. The equilibria of the proposed system have been determined. Local and global stabilities for the system have been discussed. We have used the analytic approach to derive the global asymptotic stabilities of the system. The maximal predator per capita consumption rate has been considered as a bifurcation parameter to evaluate Hopf bifurcation in the neighborhood of interior equilibrium point. Also, we have used fishing effort to harvest predator population of the system as a control to develop a dynamic framework to investigate the optimal utilization of the resource, sustainability properties of the stock and the resource rent is earned from the resource. Finally, we have presented some numerical simulations to verify the analytic results and the system has been analyzed through graphical illustrations.

Solution of Matrix Games with Generalised Trapezoidal Fuzzy Payoffs

Abstract Waste management involved in various fields of global ecosystem that provides several positive effects for green environment and sustainable development. We devise a multi-objective solid transportation model of waste management problem in agriculture field and forest department for urban or rural development. Starting to end point of the problem covered by considering the objective functions as transportation cost, job opportunity and carbon emission. Carbon emission is restricted by the combination of several policies of carbon mechanism (carbon tax, cap-and-trade and offset policy). Various critical sitchs appear in such realistic process and uncertainty attached with related data. Here we prefer Pythagorean hesitant fuzzy environment to overcome deep uncertainty rather than single uncertainty. After that, we initiate a ranking approach to convert uncertain data into crisp data. To justify the appropriateness of the formulated model and to select the best policy of carbon mechanism, we study two industrial applications with various cases of such mechanism. To derive the Pareto-optimal solution of the problems, two fuzzy techniques, namely, fuzzy programming and Pythagorean hesitant fuzzy programming, are utilized here. Comparative study, model validation, sensitivity analysis, managerial insights and conclusions with future research scopes are outlined at last.

Analysis of interval programming in different environments and its application to fixed-charge transportation problem

SYNOPTIC ABSTRACTThe aim of this article is to present a fuzzy programming approach to a single-sink, fixed-charge, multiobjective, multi-index stochastic transportation problem (SSMISTP). This article focuses on the minimization of the transportation cost, deterioration rate, and underused capacity for transportation of raw materials from different sources to the ”Single-Sink” by different transportation modes. The parameters of the proposed problem are transportation cost, fixed-charge, deterioration rate, and underused capacity. These parameters are to be treated here as random variables. Because of the globalization of the market, assume that the “Sink” demand is an interval representing the inexact demand component for the SSMISTP. By considering the uncertainties of these parameters, we formulate the mathematical model of the proposed problem.
