Genetic variation and relationships among eight Indian riverine buffalo breeds.
Satish Kumar,Jalaj Gupta,Niraj Kumar,Kirti Dikshit,Naveen Kumar Navani,Pradeep K. Jain,Muniyandi Nagarajan +6 more
TL;DR: Analysis of molecular variance refuted the earlier classification of these breeds proposed on the basis of morphological and geographical parameters and will be useful for development of rational breeding and conservation strategies for Indian buffaloes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial DNA analyses of Indian water buffalo support a distinct genetic origin of river and swamp buffalo
TL;DR: This study sequenced the mitochondrial D-loop region and cytochrome b gene of 217 and 80 buffalo respectively from eight breeds/locations in northern, north-western, central and southern India and compared the results with published Mediterranean and swamp buffalo sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inositol hexakisphosphate kinase 1 maintains hemostasis in mice by regulating platelet polyphosphate levels
Somadri Ghosh,Dhananjay Shukla,Komjeti Suman,B. Jyothi Lakshmi,R. Manorama,Satish Kumar,Rashna Bhandari +6 more
TL;DR: A novel role for IP6K1 is suggested in regulation of mammalian hemostasis via its control of platelet polyP levels through its modulation of IP6 kinase levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
A first generation whole genome RH map of the river buffalo with comparison to domestic cattle

Womack +36 more
TL;DR: This work presents the first-generation whole genome RH map (WG-RH) of the river buffalo generated from cattle-derived markers, which provides a more extensive resource for positional candidate cloning of genes associated with complex traits and also for large-scale physical mapping of the River buffalo genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogeography and domestication of Indian river buffalo.
TL;DR: The data are consistent with the available archaeological information in supporting the proposition that the river buffalo was likely to be domesticated in the Western region of the Indian subcontinent, specifically the present day breeding tracts of the Mehsana, Surati and Pandharpuri breeds.
