Journal ArticleDOI

Incorporating transportation costs into inventory replenishment decisions

TL;DR: This study demonstrates that straightforward freight rate functions presented in the literature can be incorporated into inventory replenishment decisions without compromising the accuracy of the decision.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating vendor-managed inventory (vmi) in non-traditional environments using simulation

TL;DR: The study found that VMI alternatives outperformed traditional delivery methods and that the use of such technology could be economically justified in many logistics problems dealing with variable demand patterns through the cost savings created.
Journal ArticleDOI

A linear approximation for chance-constrained programming

TL;DR: An approximation formula for chance constraints is presented which can be used in either the single- or multiple-objective case, and will place a bound on the chance constraint at least as tight as the true non-linear form, thus overachieving the chance constraints at the expense of other constraints or objectives.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trade‐offs in Supply Chain System Risk Mitigation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors view supply chain decision making from a system perspective, using multiple criteria decision-making as a framework, and discuss how systemic features are demonstrated by these decisionmaking criteria.
