Journal ArticleDOI
Regional trace-gas source attribution using a field-deployed dual frequency comb spectrometer
Sean Coburn,Caroline B. Alden,Robert J. Wright,Kevin C. Cossel,Esther Baumann,Gar-Wing Truong,Fabrizio R. Giorgetta,Colm Sweeney,Nathan R. Newbury,Kuldeep R. Prasad,Ian Coddington,Gregory B. Rieker +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, a dual frequency comb laser spectrometer was deployed for the first time, enabling an observing system that provides continuous detection of trace-gas sources over multiple square-kilometer regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Chromophoric Water-Soluble Organic Matter in Urban, Forest, and Marine Aerosols by HR-ToF-AMS Analysis and Excitation–Emission Matrix Spectroscopy
Qingcai Chen,Yuzo Miyazaki,Kimitaka Kawamura,Kiyoshi Matsumoto,Sean Coburn,Rainer Volkamer,Yoko Iwamoto,Sara Kagami,Yange Deng,Shuhei Ogawa,Sathiyamurthi Ramasamy,Shungo Kato,Akira Ida,Yoshizumi Kajii,Yoshizumi Kajii,Michihiro Mochida +15 more
TL;DR: It is found that the chromophore components of HULIS-1 and -2 were associated with highly and less-oxygenated structures, respectively, which may provide a clue to understanding the chemical formation or loss of organic chromophores in atmospheric aerosols.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ship-based detection of glyoxal over the remote tropical Pacific Ocean
TL;DR: The first detection of glyoxal (CHOCHO) over the tropical Pacific Ocean in the Marine Boundary Layer (MBL) was made by means of the University of Colorado Ship Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (CU SMAX-DOAS) instrument aboard the research vessel Ronald H. Brown as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aircraft measurements of BrO, IO, glyoxal, NO 2 , H 2 O, O 2 –O 2 and aerosol extinction profiles in the tropics: comparison with aircraft-/ship-based in situ and lidar measurements
Rainer Volkamer,Rainer Volkamer,Sunil Baidar,Sunil Baidar,Teresa Campos,Sean Coburn,Sean Coburn,Joshua P. DiGangi,Joshua P. DiGangi,Barbara Dix,Edwin W. Eloranta,Theodore K. Koenig,Theodore K. Koenig,Bruce Morley,Ivan Ortega,Ivan Ortega,Bridget R. Pierce,Mike Reeves,R. Sinreich,Siyuan Wang,Siyuan Wang,Siyuan Wang,Mark A. Zondlo,P. Romashkin +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of two research flights (RF12, RF17) over the tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean (tEPO) as part of the "Tropical Ocean tRoposphere Exchange of Reactive halogens and Oxygenated hydrocarbons" (TORERO) project are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dual frequency comb laser absorption spectroscopy in a 16 MW gas turbine exhaust
Paul J. Schroeder,Robert J. Wright,Sean Coburn,Bennett Sodergren,Kevin C. Cossel,Stefan Droste,Gar W. Truong,Esther Baumann,Fabrizio R. Giorgetta,Ian Coddington,Nathan R. Newbury,Gregory B. Rieker +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the first frequency comb laser absorption spectroscopy in an industrial environment, where they simultaneously measured temperature, H 2 O and CO 2 concentration in the exhaust of a 16 MW stationary gas turbine.
