Journal ArticleDOI
Ultra-selective high-flux membranes from directly synthesized zeolite nanosheets
Mi Young Jeon,Donghun Kim,Prashant Kumar,Pyung Soo Lee,Neel Rangnekar,Peng Bai,Meera Shete,Bahman Elyassi,Han Seung Lee,Katabathini Narasimharao,Sulaiman Nasir Basahel,Shaeel A. Al-Thabaiti,Wenqian Xu,Hong Je Cho,Evgenii O. Fetisov,Raghuram Thyagarajan,Robert F. DeJaco,Wei Fan,K. Andre Mkhoyan,J. Ilja Siepmann,Michael Tsapatsis +20 more
TL;DR: A nanocrystal-seeded growth method triggered by a single rotational intergrowth is used to synthesize high-aspect-ratio MFI nanosheets with a thickness of 5 nanometres (2.5 unit cells), which allow the fabrication of thin and defect-free coatings that effectively cover porous substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation and characterization of silver nanoparticles by chemical reduction method
TL;DR: Aniline acts as a reducing as well as adsorbing agent in the preparation of roughly spherical, agglomerated and face-centered-cubic silver nanoparticles and has no significant effect on the shape, size and the size distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Graphene Oxide as Support for Layered Double Hydroxides: Enhancing the CO2 Adsorption Capacity
Ainara Garcia-Gallastegui,Diana Iruretagoyena,Gouvea,Mohamed Mokhtar,M Asiri,Suliman N. Basahel,Shaeel A. Al-Thabaiti,A. O. Al-Youbi,David Chadwick +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the absolute capacity of the double hydroxides was increased by 62% using only 7 wt % graphene oxide (GO) as a support, and the experimental procedure for the synthesis of the materials is based on a direct precipitation of the LDH nanoparticles onto GO followed by a structural and physical characterization by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Initial Carbon–Carbon Bond Formation during the Early Stages of the Methanol-to-Olefin Process Proven by Zeolite-Trapped Acetate and Methyl Acetate
Abhishek Dutta Chowdhury,Klaartje Houben,Gareth T. Whiting,Mohamed Mokhtar,Abdullah M. Asiri,Shaeel A. Al-Thabaiti,Suliman N. Basahel,Marc Baldus,Bert M. Weckhuysen +8 more
TL;DR: Spectroscopic evidence is provided for the formation of surface acetate and methyl acetate, as well as dimethoxymethane during the MTO process, suggesting a direct mechanism may be operative, at least in the early stages of theMTO reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oriented MFI Membranes by Gel-Less Secondary Growth of Sub-100 nm MFI-Nanosheet Seed Layers.
Kumar Varoon Agrawal,Berna Topuz,Tung Cao Thanh Pham,Thanh Huu Nguyen,Nicole Sauer,Neel Rangnekar,Han Zhang,Katabathini Narasimharao,Sulaiman Nasir Basahel,Lorraine F. Francis,Christopher W. Macosko,Shaeel A. Al-Thabaiti,Michael Tsapatsis,Kyung Byung Yoon +13 more
TL;DR: A zeolite membrane fabrication process combining 2D-zeolite nanosheet seeding and gel-free secondary growth is described, which produces selective molecular sieve films that are as thin as 100 nm and exhibit record high permeances for xylene- and butane-isomers.
