TL;DR: This paper investigated sources of resistance to the development of integrated preschool programs expressed in concerns raised during interviews and observations of parents, teachers, and administrators involved in system change, and found that perceived loss of political control over aspects of programs that have been informally negotiated between parents and teachers may underlie concems about new programmatic arrangements.

Competing for tots: operating objectives and characteristics of for-profit and not-for-profit child care centres in the Pacific Northwest

TL;DR: The authors compared goal priorities and operating characteristics of not-for-profit and for-profit child care centres in parts of Canada and the United States, and found that the non-financial objectives of child care centers were similar to those of profit-oriented businesses, notforprofit agencies and governmental units.
