Gastrointestinal polyp detection through a fusion of contourlet transform and Neural features

Fire is one of the mutable hazards that damage properties and destroy forests. Many researchers are involved in early warning systems, which considerably minimize the consequences of fire damage. However, many existing image-based fire detection systems can perform well in a particular field. A general framework is proposed in this paper which works on realistic conditions. This approach filters out image blocks based on thresholds of different temporal and spatial features, starting with dividing the image into blocks and extraction of flames blocks from image foreground and background, and candidates blocks are analyzed to identify local features of color, source immobility, and flame flickering. Each local feature filter resolves different false-positive fire cases. Filtered blocks are further analyzed by global analysis to extract flame texture and flame reflection in surrounding blocks. Sequences of successful detections are buffered by a decision alarm system to reduce errors due to external camera influences. Research algorithms have low computation time. Through a sequence of experiments, the result is consistent with the empirical evidence and shows that the detection rate of the proposed system exceeds previous studies and reduces false alarm rates under various environments.

An Early Flame Detection System Based on Image Block Threshold Selection Using Knowledge of Local and Global Feature Analysis

Emotion recognition from facial expressions has gained much interest over the last few decades. In the literature, the common approach, used for facial emotion recognition (FER), consists of these steps: image pre-processing, face detection, facial feature extraction, and facial expression classification (recognition). We have developed a method for FER that is absolutely different from this common approach. Our method is based on the dimensional model of emotions as well as on using the kriging predictor of Fractional Brownian Vector Field. The classification problem, related to the recognition of facial emotions, is formulated and solved. The relationship of different emotions is estimated by expert psychologists by putting different emotions as the points on the plane. The goal is to get an estimate of a new picture emotion on the plane by kriging and determine which emotion, identified by psychologists, is the closest one. Seven basic emotions (Joy, Sadness, Surprise, Disgust, Anger, Fear, and Neutral) have been chosen. The accuracy of classification into seven classes has been obtained approximately 50%, if we make a decision on the basis of the closest basic emotion. It has been ascertained that the kriging predictor is suitable for facial emotion recognition in the case of small sets of pictures. More sophisticated classification strategies may increase the accuracy, when grouping of the basic emotions is applied.

Facial emotion recognition using convolutional neural networks

Data mining also sometimes called data or knowledge discovery is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information. Image processing is related to Computer vision, which is a high-level image processing out of which a machine/computer/software intends to decipher the physical contents of an image or a sequence of images. One of the ways to do this is by comparing selected facial features from the image and a facial database. Recognizing emotion from images has become one of the active research themes in image processing and in applications based on human-computer interaction. This research conducts an experimental study on recognizing facial emotions. The flow of our emotion recognition system include the basic process in FER system. These include image acquisition, preprocessing of an image, face detection, feature extraction, classification and then when the emotions are classified the system assigns the user particular music according to his emotion. Our system focuses on live images taken from the webcam. The aim of this research is to develop automatic facial emotion recognition system for stressed individuals thus assigning them music therapy so as to relief stress. The emotions considered for the experiments include happiness, Sadness, Surprise, Fear, Disgust, and Anger that are universally accepted.

Facial emotion recognition system through machine learning approach

The texture which is in motion is known as Dynamic texture. As the texture can change in shape and direction over time, Segmentation of Dynamic Texture is a challenging task. Furthermore, features of Dynamic texture like spatial (i.e., appearance) and temporal (i.e., motion) may differ from each other. However, studies are mostly limited to characterization of single dynamic textures in the current literature. In this paper, the segmentation problem of image sequences consisting of cluttered dynamic textures is addressed. For the segmentation of dynamic texture, two local texture descriptor based techniques and Lucas-Kanade optical flow technique are combined together to achieve accurate segmentation. Two texture descriptor based techniques are Local binary pattern and Weber local descriptor. These descriptors are used in spatial as well as in temporal domain and it helps to segment a frame of video into distinct regions based on the histogram of the region. Lucas-Kanade based optical flow technique is used in temporal domain, which determines direction of motion of dynamic texture in a sequence. These three features are computed for every section of individual frame and equivalent histograms are obtained. These histograms are concatenated and compared with suitable threshold to obtain segmentation of dynamic texture.

Dynamic Texture Segmentation Using Texture Descriptors and Optical Flow Techniques

Dynamic texture (DT) is temporal extension of static texture. There are two broad types of dynamic textures: natural and manmade. The examples of dynamic textures are waving tree, sea water, fountain, traffic, moving crowd, etc. Dynamic texture segmentation is a technique used to separate the moving objects from stationary content in the video. Majority of the techniques give good results either for natural or for manmade dynamic textures. The proposed approach for DT Segmentation is combination of local spatiotemporal technique, i.e., local binary pattern-Weber local descriptor and global spatiotemporal technique, i.e., contourlet transform. The local spatiotemporal technique considers the appearance and motion of the object for segmentation. The technique is computationally less complex than optical flow and gives good results for manmade dynamic textures. The global spatiotemporal technique is based on Laplacian pyramid and directional filters. It gives good results for natural dynamic textures. The proposed technique discussed in this paper is unified approach for any type of dynamic texture. The regions of images commonly segmented by both the techniques are considered as the final segmented output. The proposed system works equally well on any kind of dynamic texture.

Unified dynamic texture segmentation system based on local and global spatiotemporal techniques

Dynamic Textures are temporal extension of static textures. Texture is defined as an image with some repetitive pattern in it. Dynamic texture (DT) is nothing but video data with some stationary properties and some moving objects in it. DT segmentation is a broad branch of DT Analysis. Segmentation is separating disjoint regions in the image frames which have homogeneous properties such as texture, color, motion. An important role is played by it in the applications like forest fire detection, traffic density detection, crowd congestion detection before stampede, auto pilot airplanes. There are various approaches used for DT segmentation. In this paper, the approaches based on optical flow, local spatiotemporal technique (Local Binary Pattern) and Global spatiotemporal technique (Contourlet transform) are discussed. Each technique is used and modified or combined with some other technique by researchers. This paper gives an overview of all techniques along with variations in them and the benefits achieved by using them on DT dataset. Some experimental results are also presented.
