Journal ArticleDOI
Biosynthesis of shikonin in callus cultures of Lithospermum erythrorhizon
TL;DR: In a strain of callus culture lacking the capacity to synthesize shikonin and in callus cultures which have had this capacity but lost it due to cultivation on a medium supplemented with 2,4-D, substances up to m-geranyl-p-hydroxybenzoic acid in the biosynthetic sequence have been detected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Production of anti-tumour-promoting furano-naphthoquinones in Tabebuia avellanedae cell cultures
Shinichi Ueda,Takashi Umemura,Kohji Dohguchi,Tohru Matsuzaki,Harunkuni Tokuda,Harunkuni Tokuda,Hoyoku Nishino,Hoyoku Nishino,Akio Iwashima,Akio Iwashima +9 more
TL;DR: Callus and cell suspension cultures of Tabebuia avellanedae produce promising antitumour-promoting furan-4,9-dione and 2-acetyl-5-hydroxy-naphtho[2,3- b ]furan- 4,9,dione in high yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibitory effect of iridoids on Epstein-Barr virus activation by a short-term in vitro assay for anti-tumor promoters*
TL;DR: Among the 15 iridoids evaluated, the glycoside, paederoside, displayed the highest order of anti-tumor promoting activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monoterpenoid and phenylethanoid glycosides from Ligustrum pedunculare.
Zheng-Dan He,Shinichi Ueda,Masako Akaji,Tetsuro Fujita,Kenichiro Inoue,Kenichiro Inoue,Chong-Ren Yang,Chong-Ren Yang +7 more
TL;DR: Two new phenylethanoid glycosides, lipedosides A-I and A-II, as well as six new monoterpene glyco-cosides (lipedoside B-I-B-VI) were isolated together with three known constituents, osmanthuside B, anatolioside and linalool from Ligustrum pedunculare.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quinones of streptocarpus dunnii
TL;DR: Five unusually prenylated naphthoquinones and one anthraquinone were newly isolated along with both dunnione and 1-hydroxy-2-hydroxymethylanthraquin one, which had already been found in this plant.
