A competitive analysis for retransmission timeout

TL;DR: This paper presents a first step toward a theoretical study of the choice of retransmission timeout, based on competitive analysis, and presents an on-line algorithm for choosing the retransmissions timeout that is optimal with respect to the difference between its performance and that of an optimal off-line algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensor networks

TL;DR: This work rigorously define the dependence among sensors in terms of joint empirical measures and incremental parsing, and shows that these measures adhere to a polymatroid structure, which facilitates the application of efficient algorithms for sensor selection.
Book ChapterDOI

Brief Announcement Forgive & Forget: Self-stabilizing Swarms in Spite of Byzantine Robots

TL;DR: This paper considers the case in which a swarm of robots collaborates in a mission, where a few of the robots behave maliciously, and remembers for a while may facilitate a policy of surrounding, isolating and freezing the movement of the misbehaving robots, by several robots, allowing the rest to perform the swarm task with no intervention.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Self-stabilizing and self-orgenizing mobile networks

TL;DR: This work overviews several recent works demonstrating several directions for creating adaptive infrastructures and abstractions; namely self-stabilizing and self-organizing infrastructureures, which fit the mobile ad-hoc network characteristic.
