Journal ArticleDOI
PARK2-dependent mitophagy induced by acidic postconditioning protects against focal cerebral ischemia and extends the reperfusion window
Zhe Shen,Yanrong Zheng,Jiaying Wu,Ying Chen,Xiaoli Wu,Yiting Zhou,Yang Yuan,Shou-sheng Lu,Lei Jiang,Zheng-Hong Qin,Zhong Chen,Weiwei Hu,Xiangnan Zhang +12 more
TL;DR: It is found that PARK2-dependent APC-induced mitophagy renders the brain resistant to ischemic injury, and APC treatment could be a favorable strategy to extend the thrombolytic time window for stroke therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Melatonin receptor agonist ramelteon attenuates mouse acute and chronic ischemic brain injury.
Xiaoli Wu,Shou-sheng Lu,Mengru Liu,Wei-dong Tang,Jun-zi Chen,Yanrong Zheng,Anil Ahsan,Ming Cao,Lei Jiang,Weiwei Hu,Jiaying Wu,Zhong Chen,Xiangnan Zhang +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that administration of ramelteon displayed comparable protective efficacy and length of effective time window as administration of edaravone, which was used in clinic to treat ischemic stroke, and it was revealed that ramelTEon significantly inhibited autophagy in the peri-infarct cortex in both the mouse ischemia models via regulating AMPK/mTOR pathway.
