Journal ArticleDOI
Selective phenol hydrogenation to cyclohexanone over a dual supported Pd-Lewis acid catalyst.
TL;DR: It is reported that a previously unappreciated combination of two common commercial catalysts―nanoparticulate palladium (supported on carbon, alumina, or NaY zeolite) and a Lewis acid such as AlCl3―synergistically promotes this reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Highly efficient synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO2 and epoxides over cellulose/KI
TL;DR: It is found that the hydroxyl groups on the vicinal carbons of cellulose play a key role for the very high efficiency of the catalyst.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solvent-free synthesis of substituted ureas from CO2 and amines with a functional ionic liquid as the catalyst
TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of disubstituted ureas from amines and CO2 was carried out using a basic ionic liquid (IL) 1-n-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium hydroxide ([Bmim]OH) as the catalyst.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of cyclic carbonates from carbon dioxide and epoxides over betaine-based catalysts
TL;DR: A series of betaine-based salts containing quaternary ammonium ion and carboxylic acid group were synthesized by direct protonation of anhydrous betaine using different Bronsted acids as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogenolysis of glycerol catalyzed by Ru-Cu bimetallic catalysts supported on clay with the aid of ionic liquids
TL;DR: In this article, a series of Ru-Cu bimetallic catalysts were prepared using cheap and abundant clay, bentonite, as the support, and the results showed that they were very efficient for promoting the hydrogenolysis of glycerol.
