Journal ArticleDOI

The development of real-time two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography and its clinical significance in acquired valvular diseases. With special reference to the evaluation of valvular regurgitation.

TL;DR: It is found that 2-D Doppler is very useful in detecting and estimating the severity of valvular regurgitation, and that it may replace conventional angiography in some situations.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vivo cardiovasculogenesis by direct injection of isolated adult mesenchymal stem cells

TL;DR: In this paper, isolated mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) were shown to differentiate into cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, and pericytes or smooth muscle cells by direct injection into the adult heart.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiac Rest and Reserve Function in Patients With Fontan Circulation

TL;DR: Improvement of long-term prognosis of patients after Fontan surgery requires the development of medical interventions that can overcome such limitations inherent in Fontan circulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ventricular Afterload and Ventricular Work in Fontan Circulation: Comparison With Normal Two-Ventricle Circulation and Single-Ventricle Circulation With Blalock-Taussig Shunts

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of right heart bypass on ventricular afterload, hydraulic power, and resultant overall hemodynamics were evaluated in 17 patients with Fontan circulation, 15 patients with a single ventricle whose pulmonary circulation was maintained only by Blalock-Taussig shunts, and 13 patients with normal 2-ventricle circulation.
