40Ar/39Ar hornblende provenance clues about Heinrich event 3 (H3)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare 40Ar/39Ar hornblende age distributions from the interval around and including H3 in giant gravity core EW9303-GGC31 from Orphan Knoll, in the southern part of the Labrador Sea, with piston core V28-82 in the eastern part of North Atlantic IRD belt.
Journal ArticleDOI

Researchers discuss abrupt climate change: Ice sheets and oceans in action

TL;DR: In the last glacial period, large temperature variations on land, in the air, and at the ocean surface, and highly variable flux of ice-rafted debris (IRD) delivered to the North Atlantic Ocean were observed as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

East Antarctic Ice Sheet variability during the middle Miocene Climate Transition captured in drill cores from the Friis Hills, Transantarctic Mountains

TL;DR: A composite chronostratigraphic framework is presented for the cores based on the previous mapping, a seismic refraction survey that defines basin geometry, and a new, integrated age model based on paleomagnetic stratigraphy that is constrained by radioisotopic 40Ar/39Ar numeric ages on two newly identified silicic tephra as mentioned in this paper .
