Journal ArticleDOI
PRISMA-S: an extension to the PRISMA Statement for Reporting Literature Searches in Systematic Reviews.
Melissa L. Rethlefsen,Shona Kirtley,Siw Waffenschmidt,Ana Patricia Ayala,David Moher,Matthew J. Page,Jonathan Koffel +6 more
TL;DR: The PRISMA-S (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses literature search extension) checklist as discussed by the authors was developed using a 3-stage Delphi survey process, followed by a consensus conference and public review process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single screening versus conventional double screening for study selection in systematic reviews: a methodological systematic review
TL;DR: Single screening of the titles and abstracts of studies retrieved in bibliographic searches is not equivalent to double screening, as substantially more studies are missed, however, in the opinion such an approach could still represent an appropriate methodological shortcut in rapid reviews, as long as it is conducted by an experienced reviewer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing physical activity for the treatment of hypertension: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Thomas Semlitsch,Thomas Semlitsch,Klaus Jeitler,Lars G. Hemkens,Karl Horvath,Eva Nagele,Christoph Schuermann,Nicole Pignitter,Kirsten H. Herrmann,Siw Waffenschmidt,Andrea Siebenhofer +10 more
TL;DR: Although a decrease in blood pressure is shown to be a consequence of increased physical activity, RCTs of appropriate study size and quality that examine potential patient-relevant benefits or harms still need to be conducted to evaluate whether physical activity really improves the health of patients with essential hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Routine development of objectively derived search strategies
TL;DR: The conclusion is that an objectively derived approach similar to that used in search filter development is a feasible way to develop and validate reliable search strategies and the widespread application of this approach will result in a substantial increase in the transparency of the development process of search strategies.
