Journal ArticleDOI
Combined analysis of HPV-DNA, p16 and EGFR expression to predict prognosis in oropharyngeal cancer
Niklas Reimers,Hans U. Kasper,Soenke J. Weissenborn,Hartmut Stützer,Simon F. Preuss,Thomas K. Hoffmann,Ernst-Jan M. Speel,Hans Peter Dienes,Herbert Pfister,Orlando Guntinas-Lichius,Jens Peter Klussmann +10 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that p16 expression is the most reliable prognostic marker for OSCC and further might be a surrogate marker for HPV‐positive OSCC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of p16 protein identifies a distinct entity of tonsillar carcinomas associated with human papillomavirus.
Jens Peter Klussmann,Elif Gültekin,Soenke J. Weissenborn,Ulrike Wieland,Volker Dries,Hans Peter Dienes,Hans Edmund Eckel,Herbert Pfister,Pawel G. Fuchs +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the p16 protein expression in 34 tonsillar carcinoma was analyzed for correlation to HPV status and load of viral DNA, and a significant correlation of p16 expression with increased disease-free survival was found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human papillomavirus-DNA loads in actinic keratoses exceed those in non-melanoma skin cancers.
Soenke J. Weissenborn,Ingo Nindl,Karin J. Purdie,Catherine A. Harwood,Charlotte M. Proby,Judy Breuer,Slawomir Majewski,Herbert Pfister,Ulrike Wieland +8 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that persistence of HPV is not necessary for the maintenance of the malignant phenotype of individual NMSC cells, and are compatible with a carcinogenic role of HPV in early steps of tumor development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic signatures of HPV-related and unrelated oropharyngeal carcinoma and their prognostic implications.
Jens Peter Klussmann,Jeroen J. Mooren,Martin Lehnen,Sandra M.H. Claessen,Markus Stenner,Christian U. Huebbers,Soenke J. Weissenborn,Inga Wedemeyer,Simon F. Preuss,Jos M.J.A.A. Straetmans,Johannes J. Manni,Anton H. N. Hopman,Ernst-Jan M. Speel +12 more
TL;DR: Patients with human papillomavirus-containing oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) have a better prognosis than patients with HPV-negative OSCC, and distinct chromosomal alterations have prognostic significance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imiquimod Treatment of Anal Intraepithelial Neoplasia in HIV-Positive Men
Ulrike Wieland,Norbert H. Brockmeyer,Soenke J. Weissenborn,Bettina Hochdorfer,Markus Stücker,Jochen Swoboda,Peter Altmeyer,Herbert Pfister,Alexander Kreuter +8 more
TL;DR: Clinical response was accompanied by a sharp decline in HPV DNA loads and by a reduction in the number of HPV types, but long-term HPV clearance was rarely achieved, and imiquimod appears to be a safe and effective treatment option for AIN in HIV-positive MSM.
