Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment with Vitamin D/MOG Association Suppresses Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis.
Fernanda Chiuso-Minicucci,Larissa Lumi Watanabe Ishikawa,Luiza Ayumi Nishiyama Mimura,Thais Fernanda de Campos Fraga-Silva,Thais Graziela Donegá França,Sofia Fernanda Gonçalves Zorzella-Pezavento,Camila Marques,Maura Rosane Valerio Ikoma,Alexandrina Sartori +8 more
TL;DR: The association of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) with 1,25(OH) 2D3 was able to control EAE development and determined significant reduction in EAE incidence and in clinical scores.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atrophic cardiac remodeling induced by taurine deficiency in Wistar rats.
Mariele C. Pansani,Paula S. Azevedo,Bruna Paola Murino Rafacho,Marcos F. Minicucci,Fernanda Chiuso-Minicucci,Sofia Fernanda Gonçalves Zorzella-Pezavento,Julio Sérgio Marchini,Gilberto João Padovan,Ana Angélica Henrique Fernandes,Beatriz Bojikian Matsubara,Luiz Shiguero Matsubara,Leonardo A. M. Zornoff,Sergio A. R. Paiva +12 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that taurine deficiency promotes structural and functional cardiac alterations with unique characteristics, and indicates abnormal diastolic and systolic function in T (-) rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent Inflammation in the CNS during Chronic EAE Despite Local Absence of IL-17 Production
Sofia Fernanda Gonçalves Zorzella-Pezavento,Fernanda Chiuso-Minicucci,Thais Graziela Donegá França,Larissa Lumi Watanabe Ishikawa,Larissa Camargo da Rosa,Camila Marques,Maura Rosane Valerio Ikoma,Alexandrina Sartori +7 more
TL;DR: Partial clinical recovery observed during chronic EAE was associated with no IL-17 production and presence of Foxp3+ Treg cells in the CNS, and the degree of inflammation was similar at both disease stages.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin D Deficiency and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Larissa Lumi Watanabe Ishikawa,Priscila Maria Colavite,Thais Fernanda de Campos Fraga-Silva,Luiza Ayumi Nishiyama Mimura,Thais Graziela Donegá França,Sofia Fernanda Gonçalves Zorzella-Pezavento,Fernanda Chiuso-Minicucci,Larissa Doddi Marcolino,Marcimara Penitenti,Maura Rosane Valerio Ikoma,Alexandrina Sartori +10 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that VitD3 played a role as a tolerogenic adjuvant by down-modulating the course of experimental RA, and further investigations will reveal its plausible use in human RA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcitriol Prevents Neuroinflammation and Reduces Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption and Local Macrophage/Microglia Activation.
Larissa Ragozo Cardoso de Oliveira,Luiza Ayumi Nishiyama Mimura,Thais Fernanda de Campos Fraga-Silva,Larissa Lumi Watanabe Ishikawa,Ana Angélica Henrique Fernandes,Sofia Fernanda Gonçalves Zorzella-Pezavento,Alexandrina Sartori +6 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that early intervention with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 can control the neuroinflammatory process that is the hallmark of EAE and MS immunopathogenesis and should thus be explored as an adjunct therapy for MS patients.
