Journal ArticleDOI
Total mercury, methylmercury and selenium in mercury polluted areas in the province Guizhou, China
Milena Horvat,Natasa Nolde,Vesna Fajon,Vesna Jereb,M. Logar,Sonja Lojen,Radojko Jaćimović,Ingrid Falnoga,Qu Liya,Jadran Faganeli,Damjana Drobne +10 more
TL;DR: The general conclusion is that Hg contamination in Wanshan is geographically more widespread, due to deposition and scavenging of Hg from contaminated air and deposition on land, and the population mostly at risk is located in the vicinity of smelting facilities, mining activities and close to the waste disposal sites in the wider area of Wansan.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of karst aquifer discharge components during storm events through end-member mixing analysis using natural chemistry and stable isotopes as tracers
Daniel H. Doctor,Daniel H. Doctor,E. Calvin Alexander,Metka Petrič,Janja Kogovšek,Janko Urbanc,Sonja Lojen,Willibald Stichler +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used principal components analysis (PCA) and end-member mixing analysis (EMMA) to estimate mixing proportions among three sources: (1) allogenic river recharge, (2) autogenic recharge and (3) an anthropogenic component stored within the epikarst.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Permian–Triassic boundary in Western Slovenia (Idrijca Valley section): magnetostratigraphy, stable isotopes, and elemental variations
TL;DR: Stable isotope analyses of carbonate and total organic carbon (TOC; δ13Corg) together with geochemical analyses of 54 major, minor, and trace elements and magnetic susceptibility measurements were carried out on whole rock samples of the undisturbed Permian-Triassic (P/Tr) limestone boundary sequence in the Idrijca Valley (W. Slovenia) as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
C and O stable isotope variability in recent freshwater carbonates (River Krka, Croatia)
TL;DR: In this article, three types of recent carbonate precipitates from the River Krka, Croatia, were analyzed: (1) bulk tufa from four main cascades in a 34 km long section of the river flow through the Krka National Park, (2) a laminar stromatolite-like incrustation formed in the tunnel of a hydroelectric power plant close to the lowest cascade, and (3) recent precipitates collected on artificial substrates during winter, spring and summer periods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of high resolution pore water profiles of trace metals in sediments of the rupel river (belgium) using det (diffusive equilibrium in thin films) and dgt (diffusive gradients in thin films) techniques
Martine Leermakers,Y. Gao,C. Gabelle,Sonja Lojen,Baghdad Ouddane,Michel Wartel,Willy Baeyens +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, diffusional equilibrium in thin films (DET) and diffusional gradients in thin film (DGT) were used to obtain high resolution pore water profiles of total dissolved and labile trace (mobilizable) metals in the sediments of the Rupel River, Belgium.
