Defining optimal vitamin D cut-off levels: The role of parathyroid hormone concentrations

TL;DR: It is believed that available evidence does not support that 25(OH) D concentrations of 20 ng/mL could be considered as the normal cut-off value for estimating vitamin D status, and additional studies of vitamin D replacement and treatment showing changes in specific patient-important outcomes at certain levels of 25( OH)D are needed and would provide higher quality evidence that would lead to stronger recommendations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Severe eyelid oedema in Graves’ ophthalmopathy

TL;DR: A patient with severe eyelid oedema due to Graves’ ophthalmopathy was offered intravenous methylprednisolone and gave consent, and up to day, minor improvement has been observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compliance with osteoporosis medications - an underestimated determinant of anti-fracture efficacy.

TL;DR: In this new era of osteoporosis management, it seems prudent to take compliance into account prior to initiation or during medical treatment, as well as other parameters that may preclude anti-fracture efficacy and adherence to treatment, such as polypharmacy and drug–drug interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vitamin D equilibrium affects sex-specific changes in lipid concentrations during Christian Orthodox fasting.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated sex differences in changes of lipid profiles in a cohort of metabolically healthy adults following Orthodox fasting (OF), as well as assess a potential role of vitamin D status in mediating these variations.
