Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal Effects of a Begomovirus Infection and Host Plant Resistance on the Preference and Development of an Insect Vector, Bemisia tabaci, and Implications for Epidemics
TL;DR: The results suggest that vector preference and development could be affected by the timing of infection and by host resistance, which could play a crucial role in TYLCV epidemics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transmission of Iris Yellow Spot Virus by Frankliniella fusca and Thrips tabaci (Thysanoptera: Thripidae)
Rajagopalbabu Srinivasan,Sivamani Sundaraj,Hanu R. Pappu,Stan Diffie,David G. Riley,Ronald D. Gitaitis +5 more
TL;DR: Results confirmed that F. fusca also can transmit IYSV but at a lower efficiency than T. tabaci, and suggested that the transmission efficiency of a competent thrips vector can widely vary between two closely related viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whitefly Population Dynamics and Evaluation of Whitefly-Transmitted Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV)-Resistant Tomato Genotypes as Whitefly and TYLCV Reservoirs
TL;DR: It is emphasized that resistant genotypes can serve as TYLCV and whitefly reservoirs and potentially influence TY LCV epidemics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of hybrid fire ant populations in georgia and alabama
Journal ArticleDOI
Thysanoptera of Southeastern U.S.A.: A checklist for Florida and Georgia
TL;DR: A list is presented of 275 species of the Order Thysanoptera known from Florida and 202 species from Georgia; only 122 of these species are from both states; the lack of available North American faunal information concerning thrips is emphasized.
