The soft agar colony formation assay.

TL;DR: The soft agar colony formation assay shows that expression of Wnt7a ligand and its Frizzled-9 receptor is sufficient to suppress tumor growth in a murine lung carcinoma model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wnt7a is a novel inducer of β-catenin-independent tumor-suppressive cellular senescence in lung cancer.

TL;DR: It is shown that the loss of Wnt7a is a major contributing factor for increased lung tumorigenesis owing to reduced cellular senescence, and not reduced apoptosis, or autophagy, and thus pro-senescence therapies using either Wnt 7a or its mimic, Iloprost, might represent a new class of therapeutic treatments for lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

c-Myc activates BRCA1 gene expression through distal promoter elements in breast cancer cells

TL;DR: The distal BRCA1 promoter region is associated with c-Myc and contributes to BRC a1 gene activation, and breast cancer cells with reduced BRCa1 expression due to depletion of c- myc exhibited impaired DNA repair activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro methylation assay to study protein arginine methylation.

TL;DR: A step-by-step protocol to isolate catalytically active PRMT1, a ubiquitously expressed PRMT family member, and can be employed not only for establishing the methylation status of novel physiologicalPRMT1 substrates, but also for understanding the basic mechanism of protein arginine methylation.
