Journal ArticleDOI

The smell of success: choice of larval rearing sites by means of chemical cues in a Peruvian poison frog

TL;DR: In field experiments, it was found that parental R. variabilis frogs used chemical cues to recognize the presence of tadpoles in phytotelmata and distinguished between cannibalistic and noncannibalistic tadPoles, a behaviour that supports the survival of their own offspring.
Journal ArticleDOI

Explanative power of variables used in species distribution modelling: an issue of general model transferability or niche shift in the invasive Greenhouse frog (Eleutherodactylus planirostris).

TL;DR: Differences in climatic niches in the native and invasive ranges of the Greenhouse frog are assessed to recommend thorough assessments of invasive species' ecology for the identification biologically meaningful predictors facilitating transferability of species distribution models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Future potential distribution of the emerging amphibian chytrid fungus under anthropogenic climate change.

TL;DR: Results suggest that predicted anthropogenic climate change may reduce the geographic range of B. dendrobatidis and its potential influence on amphibian biodiversity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Widespread occurrence of the amphibian chytrid fungus in Kenya

TL;DR: The most comprehensive survey on the continent to date focusing on Kenya for investigating taxonomic and environmental components in the distribution of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis suggests that Bd may be enzootic in the region.
