Compatibility of a post-industrial ceramic with nitrate molten salts for use as filler material in a thermocline storage system
Nicolas Calvet,Judith C. Gomez,Abdessamad Faik,Vladimir V. Roddatis,Antoine Meffre,Greg C. Glatzmaier,Stefania Doppiu,Xavier Py +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a post-industrial ceramic called Cofalit® was used as a filler material in a molten salt direct thermocline storage system, which demonstrated relevant properties to store thermal energy by sensible heat up to 1100°C and is very inexpensive.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple approach for fabrication of interconnected graphitized macroporous carbon foam with uniform mesopore walls by using hydrothermal method
TL;DR: In this article, three different carbon foams such as graphitized macro-mesoporous carbon (GMMC), amorphous macroporous carbon foam (AMMC), and graphitized macroporic carbon (GMC) foam were fabricated and their physicochemical and mechanical properties were systematically measured and compared.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermal and mechanochemical self-propagating degradation of chloro-organic compounds : The case of hexachlorobenzene over calcium hydride
TL;DR: In this article, the highly exothermic solid-state reaction between hexachlorobenzene and calcium hydride was investigated and it was shown that the reaction displays a self-sustaining character in the CaH2/C6Cl6 molar ratio of 3:18.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combustion synthesis of mechanically activated powders in the Ta–Si system
Filippo Maglia,Chiara Milanese,Umberto Anselmi-Tamburini,Umberto Anselmi-Tamburini,Stefania Doppiu,Giorgio Cocco,Zuhair A. Munir +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of mechanical activation of reactants on the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis of TaSi 2 and Ta 5 Si 3 was investigated, and a mechanism for the combustion process was proposed on the basis of the microstructural evolution in quenched reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reduction of Polychlorinated Dibenzodioxins and Dibenzofurans in Contaminated Muds by Mechanically Induced Combustion Reactions
TL;DR: In this article, an ongoing study concerning mechanochemical dehalogenation reactions carried out under autopropagating high-temperature regimes is presented. But no residual traces of the organohalide compound were found in the reacted powders or in the gaseous phase sampled from the headspace of the milling reactor.
