Journal ArticleDOI

Raman Spectroscopic Analysis Reveals Abnormal Fatty Acid Composition in Tumor Micro- and Macroenvironments in Human Breast and Rat Mammary Cancer.

TL;DR: It is reported here, using Raman micro-spectroscopy, that an increase in the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) was identified in both cancerous and normal appearing breast tissue obtained from breast cancer patients and tumor-bearing rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-speed imaging of transient metabolic dynamics using two-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy.

TL;DR: A sustained video-rate 2P-FLIM imaging system is demonstrated for time-lapse lifetime imaging of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, an autofluorescent metabolic coenzyme involved in both aerobic and anaerobic processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical Feasibility of Microscopically-Guided Breast Needle Biopsy Using a Fiber-Optic Probe with Computer-Aided Detection

TL;DR: Results show that a biopsy needle with an integrated fiber optic probe can be used to identify breast tumor tissue for sampling and offer the potential to reduce nondiagnostic sampling rates by directly evaluating in situ microscopic tissue properties in real-time, before removal.
Book ChapterDOI

Optical coherence tomography imaging in developmental biology.

TL;DR: OCT is especially promising for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma and macular edema associated with diabetic retinopathy because it permits the quantitative measurement of changes in the retinal or retinal-nerve fiber layer thickness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Scalar generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation-quantified continuum generation in an all-normal dispersion photonic crystal fiber for broadband coherent optical sources

TL;DR: It is predicted that the observed continuum-like spectral broadening in a 90-mm weakly birefringent all-normal dispersion-flattened photonic crystal fiber pumped by 1041-nm 229-fs 76-MHz pulses from a solid-state Yb:KYW laser will lead to a series of attractive alternative broadband coherent optical sources.
