Journal ArticleDOI
Fluorescent carbon quantum dot hydrogels for direct determination of silver ions
TL;DR: The paper reports for the first time the direct determination of silver ion (Ag(+)) using luminescent Carbon Quantum Dot hydrogels (CQDGs) and the most selective CQDG system for Ag(+) ion detection proved to be those containing carboxylic groups onto their surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluorescent carbon dot–molecular salt hydrogels.
Angelina Cayuela,Stuart R. Kennedy,M. Laura Soriano,Christopher D. Jones,Miguel Valcárcel,Jonathan W. Steed +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the incorporation of functionalised carbon nanodots within a low molecular weight salt hydrogel derived from 5-aminosalicylic acid is reported, which results in a dramatic fluorescence enhancement for the carbon nanomaterials.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Family of Calix[4]arene-Supported [(Mn2Mn2II)-Mn-III] Clusters
Stephanie M. Taylor,Georgios Karotsis,Ruaraidh D. McIntosh,Stuart R. Kennedy,Simon J. Teat,Christine M. Beavers,Wolfgang Wernsdorfer,Stergios Piligkos,Scott J. Dalgarno,Euan K. Brechin +9 more
TL;DR: Variation in the alkyl groups present at the upper-rim of the cone allows for the expression of a degree of control over the self-assembly of these SMM building blocks, whilst retaining the general magnetic properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ball-free mechanochemistry: in situ real-time monitoring of pharmaceutical co-crystal formation by resonant acoustic mixing
Adam A. L. Michalchuk,Adam A. L. Michalchuk,Adam A. L. Michalchuk,Karl S. Hope,Stuart R. Kennedy,Maria Valeria Blanco,Elena V. Boldyreva,Colin R. Pulham,Colin R. Pulham +8 more
TL;DR: The first in situ study of RAM-induced co-crystallisation monitored using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction is presented, providing new insight into the role of various experimental parameters in conventional mechanochemistry using liquid-assisted grinding techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correction: Fluorescent carbon dot–molecular salt hydrogels
Angelina Cayuela,Stuart R. Kennedy,M. Laura Soriano,C.D. Jones,Miguel Valcárcel,Jonathan W. Steed +5 more
TL;DR: A comparison study of fluorescent carbon dot–molecular salt hydrogels with high concentration of Na6(CO3)(SO4)2, Na2SO4 and Na2CO3 shows good similarity in the presence and absence of carbon dioxide.
