Purpose – The current study was conducted to increase our understanding of factors that influence the employability of university graduates. Through the use of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, the paper explores the relative importance of 17 factors that influence new graduate employability.Design/methodology/approach – An extensive review of the existing literature was used to identify 17 factors that affect new graduate employability. A two‐phase, mixed‐methods study was conducted to examine: Phase One, whether these 17 factors could be combined into five categories; and Phase Two, the relative importance that employers place on these factors. An exploratory study of factors affecting undergraduate employability

Biofabrication can be defined as the production of complex living and non-living biological products from raw materials such as living cells, molecules, extracellular matrices, and biomaterials. Cell and developmental biology, biomaterials science, and mechanical engineering are the main disciplines contributing to the emergence of biofabrication technology. The industrial potential of biofabrication technology is far beyond the traditional medically oriented tissue engineering and organ printing and, in the short term, it is essential for developing potentially highly predictive human cell- and tissue-based technologies for drug discovery, drug toxicity, environmental toxicology assays, and complex in vitro models of human development and diseases. In the long term, biofabrication can also contribute to the development of novel biotechnologies for sustainable energy production in the future biofuel industry and dramatically transform traditional animal-based agriculture by inventing 'animal-free' food, leather, and fur products. Thus, the broad spectrum of potential applications and rapidly growing arsenal of biofabrication methods strongly suggests that biofabrication can become a dominant technological platform and new paradigm for 21st century manufacturing. The main objectives of this review are defining biofabrication, outlining the most essential disciplines critical for emergence of this field, analysis of the evolving arsenal of biofabrication technologies and their potential practical applications, as well as a discussion of the common challenges being faced by biofabrication technologies, and the necessary conditions for the development of a global biofabrication research community and commercially successful biofabrication industry.

Biofabrication: a 21st century manufacturing paradigm

The purpose of this study was to examine the leadership practices of principals identified as servant leaders. The conceptual framework used to access the leadership behaviours was the leadership practices advocated by Kouzes and Posner. Statistical analysis included a multivariate test to determine if the demographic variables were significantly related to the overall self‐assessed rating and a univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine which practices the servant leaders were utilising. The research findings revealed that no demographic variable was significantly related to the overall self‐assessment of servant leadership rating. The findings also revealed that public school principals identified as servant leaders were rated significantly higher by their teachers in the five leadership areas highlighted by the Leadership Practices Inventory. The implications for leadership preparatory programmes are significant.

Examination of Leadership Practices of Principals Identified as Servant Leaders.

In this exchange of letters, Art Bedeian and Jerry Hunt consider what leadership as a concept actually means and whether what has been published in the relevant literature actually deals with leadership per se. Bedeian notes that leadership has been described as (a) synonymous with holding a supervisory or managerial position, (b) the possession of certain personal qualities, and (c) a category of behavior in which an individual acts in a certain manner, thereby influencing others to follow, and wonders if divergent findings regarding the relationship between leadership and other constructs may simply reflect differences in how leadership is defined. Hunt responds to Bedeian by providing a brief history of the literature's treatment of leadership/management differences and arguing for: (1) a framework that helps focus on the different historical-contextual aspects within which one would specifically be called upon to differentiate between leadership and management, and (2) the assumption that leadership is a subset of management, with both needing to be carried out (though not necessarily by the same person) to ensure organizational success. He concludes by articulating ways for researchers to empirically differentiate between leadership and management.

Purpose – This paper seeks to examine the basic employability skills needed for job performance, the reception of these skills in college, and the need for additional training in these skills after graduation.Design/methodology/approach – The research was based on a triangular design approach, in which the attitudes of three distinct groups – recent graduates, the faculty who taught them, and human resource managers who recruit them – were studied. The participants responded to a survey that included 47 items measuring eight dimensions of basic employability skills.Findings – The study revealed considerable differences in opinion among the three groups with regard to the skills needed for job performance, the skills received by college graduates, and the additional training needed.Research limitations/implications – The research study was limited to graduates, faculty, and recruiters at a business school in southern California. This paper aims to study how corporate social responsibility (CSR) behaviors can lead to corporate membership on Fortune Magazine’s Most Admired Companies list.,Regression analysis using environmental, social and governance (ESG) statistics published by MSCI-KLD as independent variables to predict the behaviors that lead to most admired status.,Not surprisingly, corporate financial performance (CFP) is the largest contributor to membership on the list. However, after controlling for CFP, the analysis finds that specific social responsibility behaviors contribute to membership on the Fortune list.,This paper finds that CSR behaviors are important to a firm’s reputation as measured by Fortune’s Most Admired Companies list. Therefore, companies should continue with social responsibility activities to improve their reputation with investors.,Many articles test the effect of ESG on financial performance and the role of financial performance on stock price. This paper is unique in that it measures the impact of CSR on corporate reputation using an important financial market benchmark – the Fortune Most Admired Companies list.
