Journal ArticleDOI

Local moments near the metal‐insulator transition

TL;DR: In this article, it is argued that the metallic state near the transition can be described by a phenomenological two-fluid model of local moments and itinerant quasiparticles.
Journal ArticleDOI

STABLE hc/e VORTICES IN SUPERCONDUCTORS WITH SPIN-CHARGE SEPARATION

TL;DR: In this paper, a phenomenological model of the superconducting phase of systems with spin-charge separation and antiferromagnetically induced pairing is studied, and the low energy properties of a symplectic large-N expansion of a model of cuprate superconductors are argued to be well described by F.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detecting the quantum zero-point motion of vortices in the cuprate superconductors

TL;DR: In this article, the experimental implications of a theory of the quantum dynamics of vortices in two-dimensional superfluids proximate to Mott insulators are explored, using the spatial extent of such modulations in scanning tunnelling microscopy measurements on the vortex lattice of BSCCO to estimate the inertial mass of a point vortex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impurity spin dynamics in 2D antiferromagnets and superconductors

TL;DR: In this article, the universal theory of localized impurities in the paramagnetic state of 2D antiferromagnets where the spin gap is assumed to be significantly smaller than a typical exchange energy is discussed.
